A dream from when I was five years old.

For some reason, mass evacuation of my city becomes necessary. My parents fill our tiny car (a red corvair) with ALL our possessions. The car is jammed, there is no room for my sister and I inside. We get on our bikes and ride alongside the car down crowded streets. We come to a stoplight and my sister and I stand with our bikes next to my mom's car. From somewhere down a nearby alley, I can hear a horribly ominous thumping, coming closer and closer. Something HUGE is making it's way down the alley, closer and closer by the minute to our position at the stop light. I grow terrified, praying for the light to change "soon please God.."

The light never changes and I turn and see a giant emerge from the alley, I feel petrified with fear. The giant holds a small notebook and pencil in his hand, ready to take notes. He smiles, and asks us in a pleasant voice, "Eight o'clock carwash?"

Additional Comments:

This was the first dream I remember having. (I had to guess about the date) Something about the wonderful weirdness of it prompted a life-long interest in dreaming. I have always wondered what put that strange idea in a 5 year old girl's mind.
