I am in the front yard of the house in Evansville with my mother. All of the sudden, a bunch of things start flying overhead. Upon inspection, they are all soldiers and helicopters and parachuters from the army passing by. The next thing I know, all of the parachutes have landed and there are 25 army guys all crouched down in the grass of my parents front yard. One of the soldiers comes over to me and says "hello, A". How does he know my name? I look and recognize him as JH, a friend from my early childhood. I talk to him for a bit.

With all of the people and planes and helicopters in the air, it reminded me of a scene from "star wars". crazy dream!

Additional Comments:

I hate war.

    army state park bunker

I joined the army, and I was stationed with a few other men at some sort of a State Park overlook. We were camping under some sort of a shelter, and keeping watch to protect the shelter from invasion. Myself and one other guy were living in the bunker, while two other guys (Ryan K. and someone) were living slightly further downhill. Once I looked up with my bunkmate and noticed a bunch of anti-aircraft missles flying around in the air. We feared that we were going to be attacked, because we were in a war with someone.

At one point, we were eating dinner in our bunker. We were eating out of numbered pie-pans, very similar to those that I use at work. At the end of our meal, there was a stack of 25 to 30 pans. One of the dishes that we had was a pinkish red creamy sause covered with sliced pepperoni.

The Oldsmobile was parked there, with the convertable top down. We had it covered with a large bought rug. My Rav was parked closer, with the Oldsmobile parked a slight distance from our bunker. Eventually an old man came up and started talking about the Oldsmobile. He popped the hood and he started looking at it. I got angry at him and ran over to the car, telling him I was going to "F*ck him up" if he ever touched my Oldsmobile again. He threatened to touch it, so I restrained him by pulling his arms behind his back. I had some of my army buddies hold him while I got the keys to put the top up on the Oldsmobile and move it closer to our bunker.

    joining the army

I had joined the Army and was in Iraq serving my country. My duty was to protect this house and whatever was inside it from insurgents. There were a few other guys with me, and we knew that at some point people were going to come and try to take over the house. It seemed more like Vietnam than Iraq. We were just sitting in the house waiting for something to happen, and I was terrified. I don't think I even had a gun, and I felt like if anyone came into the house that I was going to get killed. I felt defenseless. At one point, I decided to hide in a coat closet in the house to better my chances of survival since I had no weapon.

At one point I think my father was there and I asked him what Vietnam was really like (although he wasn't in it). After this I saw a Vietnamese guard standing watch a short distance away. It was basically like a standoff, and occasionally the guard would shoot a few rounds of gunfire at us, and occasionally we would shoot back at him, with long ceasefires between.

I had songs by Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys going through my head whenever I woke up. Specifically, "Don't Worry Baby". I think The Beach Boys were playing on the radio in the dream.

    Additional Comments:

Since a leg injury, I know I will never have to join the army, and I am glad of this. Especially for a war as misguided as the Iraq war.
