I took a road trip with DT and WL and we decided to go to the Garden of the Gods in Illinois. WL is kind to me at first, but DT is angry. We arrive at night and the garden has a carnival freakshow aspect to it. There are several twisted rides and games to play. One of the rides simulated what it would be like to get eaten by a gigantic man. I got shoved in his mouth and chewed up at the beginning, and then fall down a tube and into a big pit of padding foam meant to be his stomach. This all occurs in pitch darkness and is quite exciting. One of the most bizarre sensations is sinking deeper into the foam pieces because of my density. I am now seperated from the people that I came there with and I wander around the festival-garden for awhile.

When I find my friends again they are both happy to see me. They tell me that while we were seperated that they came across a pile of old maps. Some had color and others were very old and just black and white. I read some fine writing on one of the maps and it said Churubusco. I asked them where they bought the maps from and they told me that I wouldn't have to deal with that. They said that they found them underneath a table and took them. I didn't ask any more questions. I love maps!

Additional Comments:

I teach a lab where we taught a lab on density and I graded the density essay question on their midterms. I recently recalled a trip taken to the Garden. I recently used a map called churubusco at work. The night before I studied an equation that created the name of DT.

picnic shelter party

I am out in the woods at my parents house. My parents had built a large picnic shelter with both an open outdoor and an indoor part on the structure. There is a composting toilet and a kitchen in the building, and it is quite nice.

We are waiting for invited guests for a large party to arrive at the shelter (Which is around where my campsite is). I look up the hill and see a gigantic tree which has had all of its branches stripped. There is a crane and a bulldozer working on tearing this tree down and they break the tree off at the base. The crane swivelled around and then dropped the tree down a hill. It tumbles toward where we are and then smashes into the ground nearby. It was impressive to see this giant tree be tossed like a twig.

I went to tell my parents about the tree, when suddenly everyone started showing up all at once to the party. There is a mass convergence of dozens and dozens of people whom I do not know or really recognize. I knew that I had probably met these people before, but I could not remember them.

Much like a picnic shelter in Brown County.

car sinking in a river

I was hanging out with Mike Beeler (a childhood friend who I've saw at college a couple times). He was driving us down a road

that ran alongside a large canyon to the left. I understood that it was the Smoky Mountains, although it looked much like the Grand Canyon. As we were driving around Mike was telling me about how he went on Spring Break down here with a bunch of guys from school, and the group got bigger each year. The road that we were driving on was very steep and narrow, with a vertical dropoff to the left. It was like the entire canyon side was terraced. On the terrace below the road there was a drainage river that filled the entire terrace. Eventually Mike drives over a rise and splashes into a big puddle. He loses visability momentarily and runs off the road, causing the car to fall into the river below. As we fell, I yelled "We're going in the river!" and he replied "Thats exactly right!". After we hit the water and our car was rapidly sinking, Mike yelled to "Jump out of the car!" and "Roll down the window!". As the water level approached my head, I woke up.

Additional Comments:

I recently went to the Grand Canyon. A few years ago I went on Spring Break to the Smokies. I recently looked at pictures of a terraced field. In Montana, I've seen irrigation ditches terraced into the hillside.
