In my dream I was sitting on the couch with a boy who was never quite a friend but never quite a boyfriend, either. I haven't seen him since June, when we got drunk/stoned and he asked to kiss me but I said no for the second time. We haven't talked much since then because of his girlfriend and the fact that he lives in Colorado. In the dream, his arm was around me and we were sitting very close. It felt very nice but I also felt uncomfortable because of the girlfriend. On the wall there was a picture of two half-hearts (cut horizontally, not vertically like usual) with his girlfriend's name between them.

In the dream, I was with my mother at a hospital. A doctor had told me I needed brain surgery. They were going to take out a small part of my brain and replace it with a donor piece. It wasn't until later that the doctor said the surgery was actually optional, and that it might not make a difference at all. In the end, though he did recommend it and I decided to go through with it. I was walking around my house when I went into the bathroom and saw part of the "donor brain". I felt very faint. The next thing I know I'm standing in my living room which is also some sort of entrance way to the hospital. I'm telling the doctor I feel like I'm going to faint and he takes out his phone, presses a button, and it somehow releases water into my mouth. I lay down on a stretcher while the doctor goes over the procedure with my mother and the nurses who will be in the operating room. I notice a small dog behind me and realize that this is likely going to be the donor. I have no idea if this means the dog will die or not, but I suddenly feel very guilty.
Suddenly everything goes black and I realize the surgery must have started. But somehow there is a part of me that is conscious, at least able to think. There are flashes of black and white and I try to move but realize my body is paralyzed. I decide to stop thinking and become full unconscious.
I wake up in a hospital bed next to my mother. I can feel a bumpy line all across my forehead and ask my mother if it's a scar. She says it's not and I wonder where they actually opened up my head. The dream ends here.
