A very long, very bad dream -- it starts out at a bar where I'm drinking too much, and lot of time goes by (forgotten). Then, I have descended into homelessness and finally I'm very sick in a hospital. I'm shocked to discover that some time has gone by while I was unconscious, perhaps even years -- for I see the minister of my church is a patient there now, too. I see his name on one of the medications in the pharmacy tech's tray.
(wake up, record, fall back to sleep)
I'm driving around in confusion through a town.
(shift) Then mist is filtering in through a window around indoor plants.

(wake up, record, fall back to sleep)
I drive over a river and where the sign for the river should be is a sign that just has the word 'BLUM' on it.
(wake up, record, fall back to sleep)
We pay a visit to our relatives in Hungary (I do have some there in real life). My Hungarian grandmother (deceased in real life) is there, but in the dream she's a combination of several relatives. Our cousins are there, but they didn't have time to clean up the house. They have a beautiful Hungarian cat that has long green fur and orange eyes and ears. Even the pupil of its eye is a deep shade of orange. It meows a lot when I pick it up, but it seems to be only pretending to be annoyed and actually quite happy that I'm holding it.
(wake up, record, fall back to sleep)
I wake up with this word in my head:
SKËLGA
(pronounced ske -- eel -- ja in the dream, I think).
(record)
I have trouble falling back asleep, so I hold very still for a very long time. I decide not to be impatient, even if it doesn't seem like I'm going to fall back asleep. I begin to imagine moving my hands around, free of my real hands, and finally I'm able to roll right out of my body and off the right side of the bed ... anticipating a lot to happen as I did so, so of course nothing happens once I'm off the bed. Rather I find myself in a gray void.
But I keep waking up and doing the same thing over and over again, including rolling out of my body, and eventually I'm in a different room. I stand up and pass through walls and ceilings.
Then I'm looking at a bright light which I understand to be God. I'm not afraid at all and, indeed, the light seems very inviting and peaceful. But then I'm sad because I realize "God" has to administer over all things in the universe ... good AND bad, otherwise the universe wouldn't be normal. The bad is just as necessary as the good.
An alligator head comes towards me and I seem to be very aware to NOT be afraid of it. I try to reshape it into something peaceful with my hands -- pressing them up against the alligator's upper jaw in the same way that I've done "healing" in other dreams -- even though he keeps attacking me. But I seem to be having no luck at it.
Finally I push it away since I can't quite figure out why I'm not succeeding.
The dream goes on for quite a while (much forgotten). Then I'm making a diorama, first in a shoebox and then in the leaves of a rubber plant. I'm still very lucid. Suddenly the words, "Legions of demons," go through my head, and I freak out a little and wake up. I realize that's a reference to the crazy religious upbringing I had, with too much of an emphasis on the passages of the Bible that talk about demons and Satan.

To C____ C. I say, "You know, you can change your dreams."
And she says, "Al, what did you say to me that time before?"
I have a dream memory of what she's talking about, but then there's a shift.
Now I'm flying very rapidly, going right through hills and mountains (and seeing the geology beneath them) with no resistance whatsoever. They might as well be made of water.

I'm not afraid of colliding with a "dream strata," that is, a layer of rock that in my dream might hurt me if I run into it at the high speed that I'm going at.
(wake up, record, fall back to sleep)
I can't find my father in a department store and I see all these disorganized letters in a note he wrote about how he wants to go work on a cargo ship. When I finally do find him, though, I've become sort of a detached observer and he gets in a box and it tips over and he lands flat on his face on the floor, causing some cuts and bruises.
I'm very worried about him.
He slowly regains consciousness.
(wake up, record, fall back to sleep)
I'm looking at "sea worms" that are attached to each other end-to-end. Something about a research group that tried to publish an article about it.
(wake up, record, fall back to sleep)
A little book is titled, Madly I'm in love with shorter and shorter periods of time.
(wake up, record, fall back to sleep)
I said the following words I heard in my dream into my speech-to-text recorder twice, and even though it came up with the following two entries, I didn't feel like it was working well enough to accurately record what I was saying (and now that it's hours later, I have no idea what I originally said, because I erased the recording).
Green Jell-O fat A. Perper recess
grindal-o vat a-paper-resis
(wake up, record, fall back to sleep)
Something about a boat. We're fishing. G____ is there, and someone else. I say, "What will happen if I wink [like I Dream of Jeannie used to]?"
After I do so, I can't see anything.
I wake up.

Apocalyptic dream where I'm with others in Cambridge, Massachusetts and we see jets scrambling overhead to some location. Then there's a flash. A second later, we all have terrible sunburns.
I say, "We're probably all badly burned, they just haven't turned into third degree burns yet -- it'll only be a matter of minutes."
(wake up, record, fall back to sleep)
I have to have my blood sugar done, but it was kind of ridiculous because the nurse use pointed forceps to do the fingerstick with, by stabbing my hand and then continuing on down my third knuckle.
I start to become lucid and say, "That's enough!" I note that none of the stabs caused any pain.
Conveniently she says she's done and she stops.
Then she has me walk briskly down the hallway to "use up my excess blood sugar," but when I start walking faster than her she gets tired. She wants to take a break at the end but I don't let her.
I see a girl in the waiting room crying about the bogus tests that she has to have done, and I realize that because of her limited medical knowledge, she probably has no clue that ALL the tests in this lab are completely fake.
(wake up, record, fall back to sleep)
I read something in a book about four trees, and then right as I look up I see four trees in the distance.

I think M___, a coworker, is playing a joke on me, but then I worry it's something more malicious from some stranger.
I wake up.
