why use telekinesis when you can just PICK IT UP?

[lucid assignment: let the dream direct itself, and just go along with the plot as an extra would on a movie set. Be acutely aware of opportunities to interact with the dream characters as they arise, and in this way change the mix of the dream.]
Walking along a path by a pond, I come across three, tiny birds that are shaped somewhere between peacocks and doves (when I was surfing channels last night there was something about a large wildcat that had killed a peacock on the History Channel). One of them is black, and another is beige; but the third one has markings that look like someone took an ink quill pen and drew calligraphy-like markings all over it. The three birds are hopping along the same path I'm on.
I wake up, record for a while, and go back to sleep.
I find myself lucid in a new dream in which some kind of enormous beast (forgotten) is charging towards a house I'm walking around in (again, the effect of seeing the snippet from that History Channel show). I'm NOT lucid enough to tell myself not to be afraid, or even remember what I want to do in lucid dreams like this (see first paragraph, above, that I always add). Instead I look for a means of escape, and end up in another building where I lose my lucidity completely.
A man and I are figuring out some vague duties we need to complete with some legal paperwork. I realize that the paper he's talking about is now on the floor, and I point my fingers at it to use telekinesis to put it back on the table (even though I'm not lucid at all). However, nothing happens and when he sees what I'm trying to do, he simply picks it up for me.
I wake up.
