[lucid assignment: let the dream direct itself, and just go along with the plot as an extra would]
I'm running and skiing (and something else, forgotten) in a race (triathlon?). Tom Cruise and Danny DeVito are supposed to be participating, too, but I haven't seen them yet. All the competitors are skiing very fast -- dangerously so. This includes some German Shepherd dogs that are on skis.

(short awakening, I recorded the above dream into a digital voice recorder that I just got, and didn't even have to roll over to go back to sleep)
I go back and forth on a street in a town that's familiar to me in the dream. I fly like Superman above the street for a ways, but don't become lucid. Then I enter an old-fashioned store with high ceilings that's mostly empty. For a (dream) coworker I spell out in the air the initials, "J.Q." I can't say the name out loud for some reason, which is "Johnny Quantico."
(A google search didn't turn much up on the name, except there are a few people really named that!)
My mother, who is deceased in real life, is at a party with me at someone's house. it's evening, and the refreshments are all out next to the swimming pool. She's sort of in the state of bad health she was in right before her car accident, and she's having trouble walking ... but she insists on walking into the decorative, illuminated waterfalls at one end of the pool. immediately I see that she's going to trip on her own feet underwater, for she doesn't have feeling in her feet because of diabetes. Then she falls in.
I jump in and help her out, yelling at my brother from a distance, "You need to help me watch Mom."
"I can't do that and watch all these kids, too!" he snaps back at me.
I finally get her out of the pool, and we run into Chubby Checkers and she begins talking with him. She's still holding a soggy sandwich that she picked up before she fell in the pool.
