I'm running and skiing (and something else, forgotten) in a race (triathlon?).  Tom Cruise and Danny DeVito are supposed to be participating, too, but I haven't seen them yet.  All the competitors are skiing very fast -- dangerously so.  This includes some German Shepherd dogs that are on skis.

German Shepherd on skis

(short awakening, I recorded the above dream into a digital voice recorder that I just got, and didn't even have to roll over to go back to sleep)

I go back and forth on a street in a town that's familiar to me in the dream.  I fly like Superman above the street for a ways, but don't become lucid.  Then I enter an old-fashioned store with high ceilings that's mostly empty.  For a (dream) coworker I spell out in the air the initials, "J.Q."  I can't say the name out loud for some reason, which is "Johnny Quantico."

(A google search didn't turn much up on the name, except there are a few people really named that!)

My mother, who is deceased in real life, is at a party with me at someone's house.  it's evening, and the refreshments are all out next to the swimming pool.  She's sort of in the state of bad health she was in right before her car accident, and she's having trouble walking ... but she insists on walking into the decorative, illuminated waterfalls at one end of the pool.  immediately I see that she's going to trip on her own feet underwater, for she doesn't have feeling in her feet because of diabetes.  Then she falls in.

I jump in and help her out, yelling at my brother from a distance, "You need to help me watch Mom."

"I can't do that and watch all these kids, too!" he snaps back at me.

I finally get her out of the pool, and we run into Chubby Checkers and she begins talking with him.  She's still holding a soggy sandwich that she picked up before she fell in the pool.

I go through a whole series of dreams where things happen, I wake up briefly, try to sit up to record some notes about the dream on my bedside pad, but fall back asleep instead and forget what came right before.

In the last dream, I'm in a house by a river. I'm making things levitate, but I'm not lucid enough to realize that I wouldn't be able to do that in real life. I make some skis levitate up to a snow-covered platform.

Then I wake up.

Additional Comments:

I'm forgetting too many of my dreams again. I'm going to try switching locations for my bedside pad of paper tonight. I think it's just too much effort to sit up and take notes when I'm still in a state of half sleep. I'm going to put the pad right next to my pillow on my bed, and use a pencil instead of a pen so that I can lie on my back and pull my knees up, and then rest the pad against my inclined thighs. The reason I'll use a pencil is that I've tried this before with a pen, and the ink drains out of the pen tip because you're essentially writing upside down. I already have a little night light attached to my pad of paper, so at least that is all set.

I had to stay up late (3:00 AM in the morning) working on my novel...because my chapter is due up for review this Wednesday with my writing group...so I did not get much sleep or remember many dreams. It seems like I had four or five, though, late in the morning. However, the only one I remember is one where I was about to go skiing and I was getting my skis ready.
