I'm looking at an aerial photo of a road in Siberia. I'm in some class where the teacher is explaining a very unusual geological phenomenon to us. It's like how the San Andreas Fault in California makes roads shift so that they're broken and no longer straight, but this is even stranger in that it kind of creates an airbrushed effect with the part of the road that has shifted. There is some word for this (forgotten).

(shift) A lecture is being given about kids using recreational drugs, to actually assist them in some other kind of recovery. It makes perfect sense to me (but less so now that I'm awake).

I'm sleeping in a bed in the hotel in N___, the town we moved away from IRL when I was six (and we really did stay in that hotel the day we left town). I think it's real life, and while I'm aware I'm on the verge of an OBE, I have no clue that this is not the bed I went to sleep in the night before. On my stomach, I focus on my nose pressing against the pillow. Soon it dissolves right through it, and the rest of my body falls through ... however, I suddenly find myself rolling right out of the side of the hotel over Park Street. I'm floating two stories above the ground, and I'm stark naked! But I seem to be invisible and in my astral form, for no one below notices me.

I wake up and don't move or even open my eyes. I try the "nose pressing" technique again, and I'm once more successful. But I lose just a little lucidity when I find myself inside of a familiar house that I immediately think we lived in at one time (dream memory or a past life memory was at work here ... and perhaps a little mixture of a real life memory, too, for the house slightly resembled one we lived in back in 1964).

Suddenly my lucidity comes back full force and I exclaim to someone, "This is a dream!"

Next, I walk outside and go up to a plant that seems to have many spines that are almost glowing because they are so detailed and reticulated. I open my eyes wide and try to absorb the spiritual energy of strange plant.

(I have to admit, as I was working on the illustration for this, it took on a life of its own -- this is not really very much how the plant looked in my dream, but as I finished animating this IRL, I felt like I was "creating a dream" of something I've never seen).

I wake up.

Additional Comments:

I'll have to try the "nose-pressing technique" some more -- that worked pretty good for me last night.

trouble sleeping because I was in an alternate universe

There are very odd plants growing in a field between my dad's old office building in N____, Michigan and our house (false memory -- we never had a house next to this office building). I want to make a project of them cultivate the whole field with many of them growing in it. The plant kind of looks like a giant potato, but with the potato part mostly visible above the ground. The potato part is also very dark and dirt-colored, with tubers and fibers kind of sticking out all over its sort- of-round surface. On top is a small collection of leaves...but it between the leaves and the potato part, there is a strange pattern that almost looks like a little art deco design, with a triangle and some etched lines. It also is the shade of dirt.

We bring one into the house and cut it open. We're surprised to see that there's a milk-like substance inside. I drink it, and wonder if I'll feel any ill effects. But I seem to be OK.

K___, from work, is there. She's making patties out of vegetarian meat and real meat. She leaves them in the oven to cook, and everyone goes to bed. But I have trouble sleeping. Slowly I realize why: I'm in an alternate universe! This house doesn't exist in the universe I'm accustomed to, and the rules of physics are even different. As if to prove this point, the patties on their trays suddenly pop out of oven, then finish cooking in the air. Some of them actually start to burn as they're exposed to the air, and K___ wakes up to try and salvage them.

I finally go to sleep and go out of body. But I wonder...Will the rules for going out of body be different in an alternate universe, too? Indeed, it really gets strange. I find myself in some kind of cylinder that rotates, allowing access to small rooms that open into it. But the main thing is when the sequence finishes in which I'm going out of body I INSTANTLY FORGET EVERYTHING ABOUT IT.

The dream ends with me floating alongside a river, while young men on the river banks are playing some kind of sport.
