paper for a physics class

I was working on a paper for a physics class. It involved a bar graph that showed the levels of various fluids. I was working on two versions of it, one on paper and one on a computer screen. But the computer malfunctioned, and went back to the startup screen for some other software. I couldn't get it to go back, either; the controls didn't make sense. It was supposed to be a touch-screen computer, but when I went to touch a button to get it off of that screen, little earth-colored designs flickered under my fingertip, looking something like paisley.

The class hadn't started yet. My professor said, "I'd like to take you for a ride in my car." Thinking I could finish the assignment with just the paper version before me, I agreed to go along, planning to work on it as he drove. But the ride was very distracting, because it was some kind of black luxury sedan that we rode in. And when we got to our destination he parallel parked the car alongside a street curb...and let a small boy in the car, that he was related to or something. The boy was very energetic and demanded our attention, which made it hard for me to concentrate on my graph. But the paper version of it was now behaving like a computer screen, and the bars showing the various levels of the fluids were being replaced by the same square from some other picture over and over. Nothing recognizable was in this square -- just fuzzy dark shapes and a couple of white lines. I woke up.

This dream very closely resembled one that I had a couple of weeks ago about L__ Street, where I lived when I had my first childhood memories. In this dream, though, I was flying instead of driving. I came up to the intersection of L__ Street and the main road, but overshot it because I was flying so fast. I turned around in mid-air and tried to fly back to it.

But the dream changed. I was suddenly in a dark space with some scary people that were theatening me with knives. They were slicing them throgh the air, getting closer and closer to where I stood. I didn't want to believe they could ruin my dream in this way. But I saw no other alternative to getting away from them aside from waking up ... so that is what I did.

After staying awake for a bit, I went back to sleep. I found myself in a dream in which I was back in college out in California. I was supposed to turn in my dissertation on the solution to a physics problem for my final grade. I had pages and pages of material that I had written ... but, somehow, it didn't seem like quite the right answer to me. Suddenly I figured out what was wrong, and wrote the solution down on new pieces of paper. Momentarily I wondered if I should hand in the wrong solution I had come up with first, along with the correct one. But then I said to myself, "Why?" So I just handed in the correct one. Then I walked out of the gym we were having the class in to where I had left Mom with my car. But she had driven it a short distance and had wrecked it. The whole interior of the car had been smashed right out of one side of it. She was unhurt, though.
