I'm at a summer camp and am about to go swim in a pond, but I see they've drained it, leaving the bottom of the pond visible.  Oddly, it looks like a freshly plowed field.  A coworker, L___, is there with her daughter, L____.  I talk to them briefly and go to look for another place to swim.

Another pond is fine, but the water's very cold.  I imagine how it would feel to swim in that, and it actually feels like I'm in the water as I think about it ... not realizing that by picturing it I'm about to alter the dream so that I WILL be in the water.  The idea of swimming in a cold pond seems invigorating to me.

The dream is just on the verge of changing when I'm distracted by a group of kids trying to make suds by having a water faucet rush water into an old fashioned, trough-shaped sink with wooden sides.  I show them how, by putting your finger over the faucet, you can force the water to come out even faster and in that way make more bubbles.  But they don't have enough soap in the water.  I give up and, on seeing a regular swimming pool nearby, head in that direction.

(wake up, record, fall back to sleep)

I start out jogging -- quite fast -- near N___ Hospital, where I used to work at IRL.  My running soon switches to biking on a racing bike, and I'm going even faster.  There are other bikers now racing along beside me.  We have to go through some sort of highway lane corrals that look a little bit like scaffolding erected over a sidewalk to protect pedestrians from work going on above.

Suddenly it switches to nighttime, and I realize I don't have a light on my bike.  Before I can think about it much, it's daytime again ... but now there's snow everywhere and the road is icy.

I become lucid and switch to skiing, but I'm still on the road and the pavement is scratching my skis.  So I levitate my skis upward, intending to fly to a nearby slope.

levitating and skiing

But it makes me flip upside-down and just hang there in the air.  For a moment, I'm watching myself removed from my body, like in player mode for a video game.  Then I'm back in my body, and a chairlift comes by and scoops me up out of the air.

It's more like a gondola without a roof, and my brother, D___, and my sister, C___, are already on it.

I've lost my lucidity, and don't even wonder about the huge duffel back I'm carrying and how my skis just disappeared.  C____ is cold, and I look through it to find an extra shirt for her.

I wake up.

the Andes and La Sierra, California (illus.)

I'm at a gym. I stretch, and then go outside to run. But I'm back in La Sierra, California, of the 1960s and I'm at the top of the hill/mountain that overlooks this town in real life. I'm right at the boundary of the suburban area and the wilds of the mountain, and I note that on one side of the path I'm running is snow, and on the other side is plant life that is generally found in the suburbs.

As I run even farther, I realize that the rocks/sand I'm running on is actually a paper maché surface. It seems almost breakable to me. I look ahead and see that the Andes mountain range of South America is before me.

The incline is too steep, though -- and I know my limits when I'm jogging (precognitive: I did go jogging in real life today, and was careful to avoid a route that involved too much of an incline). I switch to walking.

I find myself in a large, ranch-style house (very typical of California in the 1960s). As I pass through a number of doorways, I try to remember the route I'm taking -- since my return trip when I'm jogging is always back on the same route I started out on (this is true in real life, too).

I come to a room in which I see about five black poodles. Each one is of a different variety, from teacup to miniature to standard. I note that the teacup-sized poodle's hair is too long and is forming into ringlets that are going to be impossible to comb out.

I wake up.

inspired by a life-giving tree to go jogging

Date of dream: Sunday, July 22, 2007

Level of Lucidity: N/A     Level of Cohesiveness:

This dream has been viewed 7120 times.

I decide to run for several hours. I feel inspired to do it, because I feel it will bring health and life to my body.

I look up at a giant tree, its limbs holding many levels of life -- with birds, animals, and insects living in its branches -- high up into the sky. And I think about how every level with branches is like a whole community in itself.

I think to myself that I want to plant such trees everywhere and save the earth. The way a tall tree saves the environment is the same way that running for several hours will make me healthy.

    Additional Comments:

I was so inspired on awakening from this dream that I went out jogging for 45 minutes today. Hmm, now where can I plant a tree?!
