large intestine switcheroo doesn't make me lucid (illus.)

I have a number of dreams, in between which I wake up briefly, but am too tired and lazy to jot a word or two down so I can remember them later (and, as expected, I do not recall any of these, except a vague recollection that they were pleasant dreams).

I wake up, roll over onto my back, and go back to sleep. Immediately I'm in a dream where I can see that I have some kind of large intestine problem. I can clearly see the inside of my abdominal cavity, which is completely empty except for the intestine. Nothing about any of this makes me lucid, though -- I seem to be under the impression that it's perfectly normal to be able to see inside one's own body, and also that the large intestine is the only thing in there. On top of that, the colon runs transverse along my pelvis instead of vertically in relation to it as it should -- and a piece of string holds it up off of the pelvis, tied at the top to some anchor point near my neck bones.

(shift) I find myself sleeping on my back in a workout gym. My hands are above my head (later on, I found out that's how I was positioned in real life, too). It feels uncomfortable, but I'm lucid -- and I'm afraid if I move my hands to a new position that I'll wake up. So I very slowly move my astral hands down by my sides. I feel my astral arms detaching from my physical ones, but because I'm doing it slowly, I don't wake up.

While lucid, I don't seem to realize that this is not where I usually sleep. I have no problem during the dream that I am apparently living in a gym.

Next, I'm reading letters on the wall near the foot of my bed. People seem to have written completely nonsensical things in these (and I can't remember any of them now that I'm awake). There are others walking around.

I wake up.

loop of waking up and falling back into dream

My dreams start out with one in which I'm at the old gym I used to belong to downtown. But I've slept there overnight and I don't remember going there in the first place. Where the nautilus machines were is now an empty room, and there are a number of other guys sleeping there, too. It seems so real -- I'm certain it's not a dream, even though the idea keeps going through my head.

Instead I draw the conclusion that another part of my personality took over and brought me here without my knowledge. The idea horrifies me, and I feel certain I'm going mad.

I wake up for a moment and fall right back into the same dream. Feeling better now that I know it's a dream, I start experimenting with it. But distracting me from this task is a very attractive man. It runs through my mind to kiss him, but the idea seems so outrageous that I instantly wake up.

Once more, I go right back into the same dream. However, this happens over and over, and I finally realize that I have to behave myself if I want to stay in the dream.

I make his appearance change to slightly overweight and with geeky glasses, although he still has bright blonde hair. I still can't help myself and I ask him, "Can I just give you a quick kiss?"

He seems puzzled as to why I would want to do that, but allows me to do so. Now I feel like I can get on with various dream experiments I want to do, but I wake up.

lucidly painting with my finger on a wall (illus.)

Date of dream: Wednesday, June 20, 2007

I'm in a dream in which I'm certain that I'm transmitting information to my brother, B__, in the waking world. The dream even includes a false awakening in which I verify that this information has indeed been passed along. I think this is a tremendous breakthrough in dream research. Then I wake again for real and feel disappointment. There still is no link between the "things" of the dream world and the solid items of the real, material world!

I eat a yogurt and go back to sleep. I find myself at a gym. I become lucid and go out to a building in back. The windows on it are overly large and squarish. I go inside and decide to start painting with my finger on the wall. Nothing happens at first, but I continue on confidently, making the sketch marks of a large mountain. Soon paint strokes begin to appear, followed by darker pen strokes. I scribble away. The pen lines blur and turn into dark olive green paint washes.

Soon there is a lovely image of a mountain on the wall. I wake up.
