In the P____ Street apartment and even though it was someone else who had done kind of bizarre drawings for a coloring book, the babysitter tells my niece, R___, that it was me that drew them. I straighten it out, but there are still hard feelings. Then I'm looking in the grand entryway of what has now become a three-story apartment, and there is a circular hole in the ceiling that allows you to see all the way up to the third-floor. The walls of the two upper floors merge with the hole in a way reminiscent of a tri-corner hat. (In real life it was a one-story, dingy apartment). The dream goes through several shifts and I rattle off the history of the apartment and who has lived there... starting with the W____s when they were little; then each of the four girls when they were grown and had their own families; then our family; then my brother's family during his first marriage; and finally when I lived there. (All of this was dream memory except for the last one.)
(wake up, record, fall back to sleep)
Washing dishes with the W____s -- in a variation of the P____ Street apartment again. We're also making salad, but I'm washing the vegetables for it in a sink of soapy water. Right before I wake up I'm putting brown potato like things with little green sprouts on them into the water. I think that they are kohlrabis.
(wake up, record, fall back to sleep)
I decide to help K___, a coworker, and others with their new age shop. But my older brother comes in, really angry with me that I have abandoned helping him with his project. His hair is kind of flattened down on the sides of its head in an unattractive way. He tries ordering me around, but I just tell him that I'm not going to help him. After he leaves, I'm still kind of rattled, because a part of me feels like I should be obeying my older brother -- and as a result, I accidentally knock over one of the glass shelves, breaking a beautiful ceramic pot. The dream is very cohesive, though, for as K____ tries to figure out how to put it back together I see that it has broken into many tiny, perfectly rectangular pieces. I can see that even if she glues it back together it's never going to be the same. I apologize. And say that I'll pay for it.
(wake up, record, fall back to sleep)
K____'s hair looks bushy and unprofessional on one side of his head. I suddenly realize that people who let others tell them what to do generally don't care for their appearance -- and he is someone who is like that.
I wake up.

I'm talking to the crew
of a ship out of a science fiction movie. A woman tells me their starship will
be going "180." I'm confused. Surely she doesn't mean miles per hour?
And will they be cloaked?
I wake up, eat a banana
and a yogurt, and go back to sleep.
A long dream where I'm
q-tipping my right ear and horrible amounts of earwax keep coming out (precognitive
... sort of ... my ear was sore this morning, which made me remember the dream
-- and I thought it might be kind of a warning about an ear infection ... so
I put Neosporin in my ear, and now it seems fine).
(shift) "15 gunmen
came out of Lahey," my supervisor tells us. I try to correct her, certain
she has it wrong (this makes no sense to me now that I'm awake).
Now that the dream has
switched to a hospital setting, I show my sister, C___, how I can leap over
the entire hospital building (but I'm not lucid yet). I jump up, but I start
going up too fast. I see that there is no top to the building and a very small
part of me becomes lucid and says, Don't do this, the building will go on
forever if you wait for the top to show up. What I'm seeing are a lot of
floors that seem to be made mostly of red glass.
So I stare in different
directions and change the course of my flight twice (staring at a point is usually
how I navigate flying when I'm dreaming -- I usually fly towards what I'm looking
at, but not always).
When I land, someone takes
my pulse and is shocked to find that it's 2300 (60 - 90 is the normal resting
pulse) . They haul me off to an ICU.
But, instead of helping
me, they present a piece of cardboard to me that has a list of all the primary
care physicians I've ever had. There are about 50 names on there (I've actually
only had about four). I finally recall that my PCP is F___ H_____ (this was
true IRL about five years ago, but he told me to take Tylenol for diverticulitis
and I fired him!).
Satisfied that my insurance
will pay for my hosptial stay, they give me an anesthetic -- but it doesn't
work completely. I'm still aware of what's happening around me, even though
I'm paralyzed (this was influenced by reading a news article about how many
patients are still aware of being operated on after they've been anesthesized).
I see a video image on
a screen of the procedure they're performing on me -- a robotic machine is placing
me into a "fetal chamber." There are two, cloth-lined tubes that my
legs fit into, and then the rest of my body curls up into the fetal position.
This is to make me go into a sort of hibernative state so that my pulse will
lower again.
But my foot is pressed
up against some bar, and it's bothering me. How much more will it bother me
after being in this chamber for several days?! And why couldn't they have knocked
me out completely? I start to panic, and wake up.
I'm greatly relieved to
discover that I was dreaming.

These were all long dreams, but I was very tired so I recalled little on awakening.
In the first dream I'm walking across a field with a Melanie and a Nicole [dream friends]. Melanie doesn't want to run.
In the second dream, I'm in a glass topped speedboat that's shaped like an arrowhead. We're speeding along a river, but
I notice the pilot is sitting on the peak of the glass roof just watching the scenery go by. He apparently has the boat
running on automatic. This worries me a little -- what if we hit something and he's thrown off?
In the third and last dream I'm at some kind of confusing party where video games, magic, some old friends from art
school, and something dangerous are all mixed together.
