I'm trying to fall back asleep when I come up with an idea. Why don't I induce a lucid dream by just imagining something? It is right at that moment that I get a hypnagogic image of a car driving through a city. I cling to the image, and try to imagine the car moving. It works! The car suddenly takes off, and it's like I'm watching through a camera that's moving along with the car, pointed at the car. It drives through some archways that are shaped like huge prongs -- something I did not imagine.
I realize the dream is taking on a life of it's own, so I watch how it plays out. There's a shift, and I'm walking through the city with my mother. She's wearing a blue hat that's in the shape of an open umbrella. I don't seem to notice how silly it looks.
We walk through a sloped area of city. I tell her that I miss her, but it's then that I sense that she is just a dream character who merely looks like my mother. The second I realize this, her form crumples a little as if my belief in its reality was necessary for it to retain its shape. I'm sad that it's not really my mother, and I start crying and wake up.
