There's a birthday party
for one of my nephews. Opening presents gets kind of chaotic, and then some
glass breaks and gets in the carpet, so we try to pick it all up.
We all need to leave by
private jet. By this time the dream has shifted so that my family members are
all different people, but dream memory prevents me from noticing this. In the
passenger area of the jet we have a large screen monitor hanging from the ceiling
that shows us an exact computer simulation of what the pilot is seeing for real;
it shows the runway we are taking off from.
It's kind of interesting,
but it suddenly becomes a reason for terror as the plane starts sinking back
down towards the runway right after takeoff.
Everyone's shouting and afraid. The pilot turns the jet abruptly around, and
ahead of us is a large city bridge with high spans. It looks like he's going
to try and land on the bridge. What we're seeing on the screen, though, is a
computer simulation of the bridge along with what looks like little toy cars
driving on it.
He changes his mind at
the last second again and turns. A metal structure looms up large before us
and I know we're going to crash into it. I calmly wonder what will happen after
I die, for now I will find out.
I wake up and think, Oh,
so that's what it's like!

I'm about to drive onto the large bridge that I have to go over IRL when I drive into work (I usually take the train, which
is what I am doing this very moment!). I'm puzzled by how steep the bridge is -- it seems to me that it wasn't always this
way. Alongside the bridge is the old bridge that is no longer in service, which is less steep than the new one (dream
memory, there is no such old bridge -- although I just got back from the Florida Keys, where the old bridge that connects
the Keys can be seen alongside the new one -- which is why I think I dreamed this ... and the old Keys bridge is missing
spans here and there, perhaps taken out by hurricanes that have swept through the area).
I go up new one, then there's a shift in the dream so that I'm now on foot and looking for an elevator to go back down. I
find a hole in a wall underneath one of the bridge's spans, and crawl through it. I'm surprised when I come out into a
pool area.
I wake up.

I'm in a helicopter that someone else is piloting. We zoom down low to look at a suspension bridge in a city, and just
then a UFO-like object that's shaped kind of like the top of the Superdome flies towards the bridge.
As it's passing underneath it, it morphs shape slightly as if it was actually made of liquid instead of a solid material.
I realize that the changes it's going through are to demonstrate us what we, as humans, are actually capable of if we
would but put our minds towards solving our problems and creating new technology.
I begin to cry at how backwards we are still.
"Why are you crying?" the pilot asks.
"Because of what we could be, and are not," I reply ... and wake up.
Additional Comments:
After I recorded this dream, I found out that my mother passed away. While she's been very ill for a long time, it still was a
shock and I was quite upset...so, just as in the dream, I was crying for a while today. I'm wondering if she'll try to visit me
in my dreams before she goes on to whatever the next stage of her existence is going to be.
