[lucid assignment: let the dream direct itself, and just go along with the plot as an extra would on a movie set. Be acutely aware of opportunities to interact with the dream characters as they arise, and in this way change the mix of the dream.]
(I've reached a new obstacle with my digital voice recorder and the recording of my dreams ... I'm finding recordings that not only I have no memory of recording, but no memory of the dream either. The first three were on my recorder and I don't remember anything about them.)

The character, Mike Delfino (from Desperate Housewives) is in a wedding ... but he says, "Surprise! I don't want to be in it!" Someone else walks in and asks him if they can alter his suit anyways.
(wake up, record, fall back to sleep)
Medical records supposedly show I was born at N___ Hospital, but something about this doesn't seem quite right. I drive past one of its entrances but then I remember the other back one -- so I turn in there. There's a lot of snow on the ground. My car crunches over a park bench trying to get around the parked cars that are in my way.
Inside, I remember a job at this hospital where I was reprimanded in the administrator's office (dream memory). Then I remember I was really born P____ General (true), which I recall I saw earlier in the dream (barely remembered now that I'm awake). I can see it in my mind's eye, old style lanterns grace either side of the large entrance of the old building (dream memory, I have no idea what the entrance looked like then or even what it looks like now -- I haven't been back there).
(wake up, record, fall back to sleep)
I look in the mirror and see that I'm completely bald. I start laughing because I know it must be a dream, so I tell my brother, B____. He replies, "Well, how can you look at my paycheck then?" This nonsensical statement makes me lose my lucidity and I sit down to eat with him and my mother.
I wake up.

I'm in a dream where I can't seem to wake up. I peer out from under the edge of my sleep mask and realize that I'm
on a cot that's in the hospital lab I work in in real life; did my co-workers set it up for me? Did I lose consciousness
while I was at work, and have they been taking care of me ever since?
I take off my sleep mask, but another one simply materializes over my face the second I do that. This happens over
and over. Finally, I content myself to peer out from under the edge of it again. But it seems only my dream
hands are doing that; my real body is lying motionless on the cot (or so I thought it was my real body!).
B___, a co-worker who hasn't worked there for many years, is there (this should have made me realize it was a
dream, but it did not). They're all laughing at my attempts to wake up, which makes me realize my real body must
be moving somewhat. Apparently I'm already under medical care and being allowed to sleep in the lab, and this is
supposed to help me wake up.
I shake my dream head back and forth vigorously, which has worked for me most of the time in dreams like this
when I want to wake up. That doesn't work, though; I realize I'm in a very deep, catatonic state.
I do something that finally does wake me up (I just can't remember now what this was). I leap out of
the cot and begin wandering around in a daze (my sleep mask is gone). One of my co-workers leads me to another
building (I seem to be on the campus of some other institution now). On the way there, I see what I think is a
hippopotamus, but I realize it looks more like a dinosaur...AND it's a siamese twin version of one (there are two
heads).
(This turned out to be precognitive, because I started watching A Sound of Thunder today and
there's a dinosaur in the opening scene.)
This almost makes me lucid, but not quite.
I wake up and kick myself for not getting lucid.
After having a yogurt, I enter another dream in which I'm studying my reflection in a mirror. I see that I badly need
a haircut, for it's almost down to my neck on the sides (in real life I just got a haircut on Saturday). But I'm very
dismayed by the realization that my hair is so thin on top that I'm only a few steps away from being completely bald.
This stuns me, for the last time I checked I had a full head of hair on top. I tell myself that at 52 years old, it's time
that I started getting used to life changes like this.
I wake up and run to the mirror and am greatly relieved to discover I still have a full head of hair.
