I'm driving over some boardwalks that go across several rivers. My siblings and my mother are with me. Then we get to one and see that it's flooded. So we get out and try to walk through, hoping that the water is shallow, but very soon I discover that it's too deep for my mom to get through (she seems to be in the same very ill condition that she was right before she died).

"How do we get Mom across?" I ask.

She tells us not to worry about her, and she starts trying to forge through the water. But almost immediately she begins to trip on rocks that are underwater, and I dash over to her and stop her.

Suddenly she turns into my cat, T___, and the problem facing us changes to that T___ has a fever (but I don't notice the change). My brother, B___, tries to comfort her. Then my other cat is there, too.

I put coins in a payphone to call for help. But the rotary dial on it turns into an antique clockface.

The clockface solidifies, leaving me with no choice but to figure out how to dial numbers using just it. I try touching the numbers on the clock that corresponds to the real life number for my workplace, including the area code (and the correct number for real life was indeed in my memory) -- but the numbers keep jumping around before I can touch them.

I wake up.

Additional Comments:

The meaning of this dream seems to jump out at me. Perhaps my mother's crossing over to the next existence is represented here by the river. She tries to cross it in her frail condition on her own, and I try to help her -- but if she is indeed crossing over to another existence, she does have to do it without me, and I can't help her. Perhaps when we die we stay in the same condition of bad health for a while until we figure out that we can will ourselves to be healthy again. Also, while my brother had many fights with her, he was very close to her. Strange that she turned into my cat, though. Precognitive of my watching Dr. Who today, in which there was an old clock face AND an old pay phone in the episode.
