From 7-24-82 Live, Animated Cartoon Dream With The James Thurber Dog. I’ve related this dream to people two times, but I am not sure I wrote it down. After noting my decision to pick up my art career along with everything else, was getting to deadline for the group monthly meeting and still nothing painted. All I had was a tiny line drawing of a freshly-hatched dragon. Crossed my mind, if not going to do fruit and flowers to improve my line and brushwork, maybe my dreams could bring to mind everything I have experienced in handling baby creatures (so I could do a good job on the freshly-hatched dragon theme.)
Next night.
I am real. This whole action is an animated line cartoon sequence. First one I’ve ever dreamed, with a real foreground and background. When I don’t immediately reach and pick up any of the baby creatures to select and examine them, the also line cartoon parent creatures follow huffily and take their offspring back, leaving the cartoon spaniel dog, weary and woebegone, back where I first caught sight of it.
Now a person gathers the (still cartoon) dog up, sits in a rocking chair and scratches its belly. The person is as real as I am, so is the rocking chair, (but it is not me,) and says "This one likes to be babied, too." We are outside in the sunshine throughout the dream.

Notes On Dream from 1982
Later, I describe this dream to friends explaining FIRST about the dragon I painted and SECOND how unusual demands on dreams "out of the blue," when the subconscious is unprepared, can result in hasty sketchy compliance and really tax the dream process to the utmost.
New notes added July 5, 2011
In June this year, my dreams led me to join this Dream Journal site. Now my dreams are once again really scrambling to meet my new demands/requests/desires/needs for this new venture. The dreams I am having now are so jam-packed and cryptic that my waking mind cannot make "heads or tails of it," as the saying goes.
As you can see, I have seen this before.
I can only hope I handle it better this time.
