It is evening time and the weather is very beautiful with purplish skies as dusk approaches. I feel and know that I am in America, I am accompanied by an unfamiliar young man who is a friend I have been going to dream college with.

Although I don’t recognise the man I feel like I’ve known him all my life and that we are very close and best friends.

I am aware that we have both just successfully graduated from college and become liberated and somewhat independent and free, we both feel that the world is now ours to explore and have adventures.

As if to celebrate we go on an adventure to explore the world, it will be the sort of adventure where we will take as long as we wish and go where we want without any specific plan.

Our adventure begins with us paragliding through a beautiful park the experience is truly exhilarating I feel as light as a feather totally free of stress and worries and without a care in the world, as we pass through the park we look down on all of the people out strolling and spending a pleasant evening in the park.

We begin to fly low as if making a landing in the park and we make our special parawings flare by pulling on the special cords with handles, this lifts us high up into the air in a gentle but sudden uplift before we gently come gliding down to the ground. As we land one of our parafoils gets caught up in a large lush leafy green oak tree. We are both stand rolling and folding our parachutes into neat bundles when we meet two young women who stop to watch us as they walk by.

My friend and I talk with the young ladies trying to chat them up and ask them if they want to come on our big adventure with the two of us, I feel very confident chatting to the two ladies and do not feel at all inhibited or guilty, in fact I feel very liberated, excited and full of confidence, sort of more adult and like a man.

But before we can all go adventuring we have to repair the parachute that got caught in the tree first. Fortunately my friend and I are accompanied by a super mechanic on our travels who is always there to help us with all of the repairs that need doing to our parachutes.

We all notice that on the parachute which needs some repairs doing to it (possibly the parafoil of my friend) that there is a very heavy and large old nut and bolt fixed to some kind of bracket which has a hefty solid cylindrical catch at its base, it seems like a very heavy and cumbersome mechanism and not at all the sort of thing one would expect to find on a parachute.

I try to unscrew the huge nut from the bolt with my bare hands but it is impossible as it is too tight, our mechanic wisely tells me not to bother wasting my energy as we need a special tool to remove the nut from the bolt.

Just then I see a garage just over the road the kind that does repairs to cars so I suggest that the mechanic and my friend go over and ask the other mechanics in the garage if we can borrow a spanner from their tool kit to undo the giant nut.

As they cross the road to the garage I wait at a petrol station on the opposite side of the road, I stand near to a petrol pump waiting for them to return.

Additional Comments:

Thoughts: This was a very vivid and almost lucid dream the flying part at the beginning was particularly wonderful. I’ve been trying to incubate such a flying dream on and off for roughly the past two weeks and now I’ve managed to have such a dream just as I had wanted even with those special paragliding sails too! From what I’ve now learnt and understood I think I was concentrating far too much and wanting the experience too eagerly, thinking about it day in and day out. When in fact I think the way to perhaps incubate such dreams is to simply ask the subconscious once but maybe in a profound and memorable sort of way maybe even symbolically and then without forgetting it entirely put the idea to the back of ones mind. But the dream also seems to be multi-layered too though and is full of interesting symbols, such as the feeling of coming back down to earth after graduating and the one parachute getting caught up in the tree, I can’t say for why but something about that symbolism is saying something to me about learning and developing as a person and how it in a spiritual regard it should still be a fun endeavour but not something to get caught up in particularly if the lessons have already been learnt (as symbolised by the fully grown oak) this concept might be backed up by the drama that occurred in Dream 1 below too. The nut and bolt are something of a recurring symbol for me and at a personal level they represent the masculine and feminine, the word ‘bolt’ could also be a play on words as I was trying to free the bolt of the nut or get the nut away from the bolt. I’ve also read that the threads of the bolt can represent the aspects that unite the different aspects of ones psyche and that at another level it may suggest that the dreamer is protecting oneself from difficult emotions and experiences. Whether the freeing of the masculine bolt from the feminine nut is representative of an inner personal drama concerning the masculine and feminine or otherwise it would appear to be necessary if I am to fly more often like I did at the beginning of the dream. The petrol station and fuel pumps are more recurring symbols for me and almost certainly represent a need for to take a pause to recapture my energy as this too may be an important factor in not only manifesting the flight dreams but is also essential in waking life too. The spanner seems to be the remedy to the nut & bolt issue and may symbolise the self-expression and skills I need to solve the problem and make the changes which are necessary to fly again, but as I didn’t have a spanner available to me it might suggest that I am lacking in these capabilities and skills for the time being.

Dream 1: Little boy blue – Daytime inside a second floor living room of an unfamiliar house or perhaps apartment I see a little toddler playing with some small building blocks on the floor, the infant’s mother is just in the background in the adjoining kitchen preparing some food quietly humming or singing to herself. I see that the little boy has built something which looks like the façade of a castle or perhaps it’s a triangular two-dimensional mountain or pyramid shaped podium. The little infant boy has the innocent and ever cheerful face of an angel with bright blue eyes, as I look at his face I feel absolutely certain that I should know him and have seen him somewhere before. I suddenly feel very jealous of the child so in order to release my frustration I pull the toddler away from his toys, I do this spitefully by pulling him away forcefully by his arm I do it pretending to be adult like but beneath the surface I just know I’m being cruel out of malice (this is obviously something I wouldn’t ever do in waking life). The little toddler doesn’t seem upset at all by my actions and still has the angelic cheerful smile on his face, its almost as if in his innocence he doesn’t think ill of me or hold a grudge regardless of my spitefulness, quite the contrary in fact and he looks at me with his innocent loving face. Later I deeply regret my wicked actions and so as to make some kind of amends for my cruelty I take a very large old coin from my trouser pocket and hand it to the toddler so as to try and make amends. (One view: The child is me at some level and represents the carefree and playful nature that I have been ignoring in my life and not giving ‘credit’ as signified by the coin, the coin also doubles up with another layer of meaning and serves to emphasise the ‘value’ of a childlike outlook and nature and how this can lead one to new insights, growth and achievements as symbolised by the building block pyramid/podium).

    The king’s medievil soup.

(A very striking dream which brought about powerful feelings).

I seem to back in time at about the time of the English civil war judging by the dress I can see, I am out in the countryside not far from a castle. In this dream I am a king I walk out onto what looks like a large field where some kind of dispute or battle is about to take place, indeed it even has the air of a civil war about it.

I am aware that there are two men who are close to me that are caught up in some kind of disagreement which has turned hostile I want to try and help them both by splitting them up and resolving their dispute. I walk out onto the hilly rolling field in order to try and bring order, I am carrying a bowl of soup with me cupped in both hands that I must keep and guard from becoming tainted or spoiled.

(I had the feeling that the special broth could become poisonous just by being near to unjust people, almost as if it could absorb venomous thoughts and emotions).

As the king I am unarmed and have walked onto the battlefield equipped just with a bowl of soup in the dream I felt kind of innocent and unaware of the danger but a very close friend comes riding past me on his horse, I feel great emotions for this man who appears to be a kind of cavalier who has come to my aid.

The cavalier rides off into the distance on his fabulous muscular light caramel coloured horse to confront the two men who are in dispute and who have drawn me onto the battlefield. I worry for the cavalier’s safety and ask my aides if he is alright I start to feel real panic wondering if he has been killed.

Much to my relief the man gallops back towards me dressed in his fine clothes I feel overjoyed that he has returned (the emotions I feel for the man are very strong and memorable). As he rides past me I go over to welcome him back from the confrontation I feel that I have to make certain that he is safe and okay, he looks so proud and fine sat up on his horse.

As I go over to him he reaches down to me from up on his horse and hands me a small leather purse of monies, it’s a very pleasant surprise I open the drawstring and tip the contents out into the palm of my hand. There are lots of coins amongst which are mixed in lots of tiny spanners, it’s a curious sight but very pleasant.

    Additional Comments:

Another dream had me out at sea on an old wooden war ship a sea battle is taking place between the English and the French. Both ships involved in the battle fire their cannons from a distance with great ferocity but don’t manage to hit one another, a higher intelligence explains that shooting from a distance isn’t going to work and that to win at sea warfare what one of the ships needs to do is sail right up alongside the enemy ship grab onto it with a giant wooden pincer like clamp and then storm aboard taking it by force (to me it seems like this method would have worked but it would have needed extreme bravery in order to pull it off).

In another dream I am in the high street in my childhood hometown just outside a bank, a terrible argument is taking place between a man who is or was a customer at the bank and the banks manager and staff. The row is a real hoo-hah and the customer who seems like a vaguely familiar film celebrity from the 1970’s but who is much more overweight is incredibly angry and is shouting a lot telling the bank to shove their account and that service is awful with the bank staff doing likewise. Thankfully I’m just a spectator with all of the other people in the street who have been attracted by all of the commotion.

    Shiny washers for rusty bolts.

It is daytime and I have gone to a very large supermarket to buy something (I feel I might possibly be in a dream version of America), the atmosphere both outdoors and indoors is extremely familiar as if I had been here on a few occasions in past dreams (in fact bizarrely enough I came back to this supermarket again in a different dream this night).

I go straight to the aisle I need knowing what I want and pick up a large clear bag full of various sized shiny metal washers. I feel that I need these metallic “O” shaped items for a specific purpose. I head over to the checkout and pay for the bag and make my way back outside.

Outdoors and not far from the entrance I walk over to what looks like a rusty metal pole resting inserted into a weighted supporting block on the ground, affixed to the top of the pole is a thick vertical oblong sheet of iron plate which is also extremely rusty. I don’t really know what the object is but I would hazard a guess that it is some kind of traffic sign or car park panel (I am stood right next to the supermarkets car park)..

There is no writing on the object so it is actually difficult to tell what it really is, I only make my assumptions based on its shape.

I realize that I have bought the metal washers in order to improve, modify or update the rusty metal object. The iron is covered in a thick dusty layer of brown and orange metal flakes which fall away as I touch it.

I take out a spanner and begin to try and loosen a series of large bolts which pass through the metal plate (it may have actually been two plates fixed together with the nuts and bolts). The bolts are almost impossible to turn and are very stubborn they have virtually rusted into place, things get easier though and soon I have loosened off all of the nuts (roughly 6 in total).

As I fit the shiny silver washers behind the bolts and proceed to tighten them back up again I ponder and wonder that if I had bought a special spray (something like WD40) it might have made the task of undoing the bolts easier and it may have even managed to treat the old metal removing the rust entirely and giving it a protective coat.

    Additional Comments:

This dream has got me puzzled a bit as for one the rusty object was odd although it did appear to be a sign of some sort and secondly why would I bother to put shiny new washers onto an already decayed and rusty object, it seems like a very odd thing to do to me?
