Metal tulip monument.

It is daytime and the weather is very fine and the atmosphere positive and industrious. I find myself in a very beautiful location that of a very fine, rich and majestic city centre. I am stood about 100 metres away from a huge grassy circular round-a-bout, the road feature is surrounded by beautiful grand buildings very reminiscent of those to be found in say Paris or London, in fact the scene is vaguely similar to Trafalgar Square except here it is more green and grandiose. In the centre of the round-a-bout I see a large workforce of hard working men constructing an absolutely enormous cast iron structure. The best part of the structure has been erected but would perhaps only represent a kind of framework or skeleton for the finished sculpture. From the shape of the enormous structure I can see that the finished monument will be a giant tulip. It really is an incredible sight and must be about 300 feet high.
The tulip is going to be some kind of testament or tribute for the city, town’s folk and visitors the kind that are often erected on special round-a-bout’s kind of like a landmark.
I note that the iron that has been used has a slightly rusty finish but this would seem unimportant as it will not affect the finished sculpture and will be polished or removed. I start to watch an intriguing scene where a small team of men high up on some scaffolding are securing an absolutely enormous nut and bolt through the final curved piece of bracing that will make up the sections of the tulip flower petals.
The gargantuan nut and bolt must be the size of a large truck and would seem to serve the purpose of a securing pin or retaining bolt, there is no doubt that it will fulfil its task as it is such a solid piece of engineering. The workmen are all bare chested and all have the fine noble bodies of miners, they are a bit oily and sweaty and also remind me a little of those old black and white photos of men erecting the giant frameworks for skyscrapers in America in the years gone by.
I watch as one of the men a lean chap with muscles uses a hammer and chisel to try and turn the bolt through the thread nut, he seems to do quite well and manages to get the bolt turning a few times but its really hard work, his tools don’t seem suited to the job. In the end some of his crew winch in some really heavy machinery that kind of hangs or is supported via a crane, this extra equipment will take the labour out of the task and will act a bit like a giant mechanised spanner.
For my part I am actually helping with the construction too, I am using a large motorised pallet truck the kind used in warehouses for moving large heavy wooden pallets of items about. I am in the progress of manoeuvring a special item that is intended to be used as a component for the giant metal flower, it kind of strikes me as being central to the flower something like a clockwork heart or brain.
This component is immensely heavy hence the pallet truck but it is also much more detailed than the rest of the flower, it is a large cube of fine components all fitted and fixed together there is something mechanical and precise about this dense solid object, I make way over to the tulip with the core component.
