It is daytime and I find myself riding a motorcycle with a large group of other motorcyclists who are new dream friends of mine. We ride along a busy motorway which is full of lots of large agricultural transporters carrying big bales of hay.

Our large group is traveling to somewhere important and our motorcycles are laden with all of our luggage. As well as my own baggage I have a shoulder bag or satchel hung around my shoulders, there is a sandwich in the bag that I would like to eat as I ride along but it’s not a very easy thing to do whilst trying to ride and fumble about in the knapsack.

Suddenly up in front of me I see one of the large agricultural vehicles starts to lose some of its hay bales, one of the bales starts to break up and scatter all over the motorway. The driver of the vehicle stops the truck and gets out to gather up the loose straw and hay.

I’m shocked at the abrupt halting of the vehicle and have to swerve around the trailer and the driver or farmer who happens to be an attractive woman dressed in traditional farmer’s clothes. I controlled the situation very well and avoided an accident, as I pass by the lorry I hope that the woman will be okay and manage to gather up her hay bales.

Later on my new dream friends and I find ourselves at a large airport, we have ridden here in our big group in order to check in for a flight. As we hang around to check in we stand in line with our luggage all about us whilst we chat and talk amongst ourselves.

A female friend in our group comes over to me she is a little anxious and tells me worriedly that the check-in steward has just warned her that we have sixteen items of luggage between us and we are only allowed to take fourteen items onto the plane.

I tell my friend not to worry as I have a solution. I pick up the smallest piece of hand luggage and place it inside a medium sized piece of baggage. I then take the medium sized bag and place this inside one of the larger suitcases. Problem solved! Now we only have fourteen items of luggage, I feel very content at having solved the luggage dilemma.

Additional Comments:

Interpretation: The new dream friends in this dream felt familiar to me from within the dream but also like recently discovered friends too. On waking the group seemed very new as well and the impression I was given was that these people were all fresh characters I haven’t dreamt of before. The number sixteen occurred in this dream too ‘The astrological sixteen.’ - 02/05/08 and also concerned a group, perhaps it was the same group? It didn’t really feel like it to me although sixteen items of luggage would imply 16 members of the group. I have been puzzling over what the significance of the number sixteen could mean, the act that it is a square number appeals to me and the fact that 4 multiplied by 4 gives 16....four being a whole number would give 16 an extra dimension of wholeness I guess! Out of curiosity I looked up what the 16th card in the tarot deck is as I’m very much interested in the idea of the story of the fool’s journey portrayed in the major cards. The sixteenth card is “The Tower” which fits surprisingly neatly into my current life based on some of what this card is meant to represent (ego protection, a needed shake-up, wake-up call etc) and also with how the drama in the dream played itself out. Also my life hasn’t been so easy just lately, the Tower card comes after the Devil and before the star suggesting that one might need to go through some kind of personal hell in order to find heaven or inner peace. In the dream I was journeying too and the final destination of the airport could at a push be seen to equate with the Star card that comes after the Tower I guess. I definitely think this dream is trying to say something (particularly with the hay bales and the luggage) but I’ll have to think a bit more about it and maybe come back to add further comments. Dream 1: Muddy farmyard – It is daytime and I find myself outdoors in a very muddy farmyard, I am stood in front of a large 4x4 off-road Land Rover with an unfamiliar dream character who also feels like a good friend. The typical farm vehicle is absolutely plastered with thick mud over its entirety, the friend and I have the bonnet up and are filling the vehicle up with petrol. I start to become very anxious and concerned that it isn’t good that the farm vehicle is covered in so much mud, but suddenly a gentle but at the same time booming disembodied voice sounds out all around me and tells me not to worry as this particular vehicle was built to take being covered in so much mud.

The hand luggage and suitcase quandary.

It is daytime and I find myself travelling on a coach half way between my old secondary school and my old childhood hometown, it is almost as if I am making the journey that I used to back then except here I am older and there doesn’t appear to be any students or school children on the bus.

Still with quite some way to go before I get back to the bus station in my old hometown the coach driver pulls the bus over into a lay by reserved for buses and coaches to drop off a passenger. I note the bus driver is a middle aged black man with a moustache, he wears a uniform and sort of reminds me a little of James Earl Jones a bit.

I think that this would be a good moment to get off the coach as well so that I can stretch my legs and take a breather as the journey has been a long one and quite cramped. I step outside with the other person who has all of their luggage laid out upon the floor before them.

I have a stretch and limber up it feels very good and refreshing, suddenly I hear a most alarming sound as the coach starts up its engine and pulls away. I panic thinking that my suitcase is in the luggage hold and my hand luggage is still on my seat. What the heck was the driver thinking? I ponder and think to myself that perhaps he thought I was getting off, maybe he didn’t realise or didn’t care or wasn’t even expecting me to get off.

I run after the slow moving bus waving my arms and calling out loudly for him to stop and let me back onboard. I see the drivers face in the large wing mirror and sense that he tries to slow down the vehicle for me but it’s a real predicament as he doesn’t have any place to pull over and he has lots of cars queuing up behind him, he can do nothing else but carry on driving.

I don’t give in though and carry on running behind the coach for what feels like about 10 or so miles. As the traffic lessens I manage to re-board the bus just on the outskirts of the town where I was originally destined to be dropped off. We carry on down through the centre of the town and down to a tight turn. Not a great distance now from the bus station.

Looking out of the window I see a young woman with bright red hair very similar to the woman in this dream ‘The jewel thief & the rough diamond rings.’ - 10/20/06 she seems to be flagging down the coach for it to stop and give her a lift, even though she is not standing at a bus stop I sense that the kind bus driver still wants to try and stop and pick her up. It’s very difficult though as she is stood right on a junction and this makes it a place which is extremely tricky for manoeuvring and stopping the bus.

It is unclear whether we picked the young poppy colourful woman up but it would seem so (kind of strange as she wouldn’t have gone very far as the bus station was the last stop on this route and it was only a few hundred metres up around the corner?). From what I saw of her outside I would say she was a student (college or university) as she had some folders and books tucked under arm, she seemed a little flustered and disorganised but also cool and laid-back with it.

We arrive at the bus station and everyone gets off and sorts out their luggage, feeling happy that I managed to get to the station safely and recovered my belongings I pause a moment and reflect on the previous drama.

I wonder to myself, out of the suitcase and the hand luggage which was the most important, and if one of those items had to be sacrificed then which would I rather leave behind? Both items seem to have very different qualities. On the one hand the hand luggage seems more important as it contains all of the important items whereas the suitcase is mainly full of clothes.

Something makes me think that the hand luggage would be the best one to take and to forget about the suitcase, but there is also something appealing about the suitcase something to do with its size, airiness storing ability.

It’s a conundrum I don’t seem to have to worry too much about anyway for the time being as I have managed to recover both.

    Additional Comments:

Had one other dream this night where I was at my place of work, at one point I am sat at a desk with an old fashioned typewriter (I’ve never used one of this before). I’m changing the ribbon the type writer and seem to know instinctively what to do, it’s quite a positive feeling as I seem to really know my stuff. There are two black plastic sticks or plugs on the typewriter one has the initials “EN” embossed on it and the other has “FR”, the first is for English and the second for French, by removing or inserting the plugs a choice of language can be chosen to type in.

Later on in this dream I walk back into the office after a break I’m surprised to see lots of people all casually sat about as if a big meeting were just about to take place or if it had just finished. I am carrying a real life blanket in my arms that we have at home (we call this blanket the sheep blanket as it has a fake or synthetic sheep skin effect which is very convincing….and cosy too!). As I walk through the canteen hugging my blanket I start to feel a bit self conscious that people will think I’m childish or stupid for holding my blanket. I decide to roll it up and squeeze it as tightly as possible in an effort to try and hide it. It doesn’t work though and is impossible to hide because of its bulky spongy nature. I hurry over to my desk as quick as I can so that as few a people as possible see me. When I get to my desk I see that somebody is sat in my chair, I become a bit concerned and worry that somebody has replaced me and I’m being given the boot.
