The glass wedge.

Date of dream: Sunday, March 04, 2007

Level of Lucidity: N/A     Level of Cohesiveness:

This dream has been viewed 3565 times.

I am in a timeless black void the atmosphere is slightly morose. A vague male accompanies me in the background.

I am building a very huge wedge out of large clear coloured glass building blocks. The finished wedge looks a little like a giant ramp.

Seen from very high above the wedge takes on a completely different shape, that of a narrow and hollow ellipse shaped wall.

Additional Comments:

I’m going to try thinning my dreams down a little to try and get to the core symbols and drama in order to try and make sense of my dreams. I’ll probably be posting only one or two dreams per day from now on as unfortunately it has become quite time consuming and difficult to record them all. I’ll post the ones that really puzzle me and that I could do with help on.

From black & white to colour for the aging rock band.

It is evening time and I find myself in a sitting room of an old house straight out of the 1950’s, I note straightaway that I am a child of perhaps 7 or 8years of age. I am sat cross-legged and right up close to an old style black & white television set, I am avidly watching a heavy rock band performing their music.

The picture is quite fuzzy and blurry but this doesn’t detract from my attentiveness. From behind me and over my shoulder an adult (this could possibly have been an adult version of myself?) leans forward, reaches out and turns a knob on the television set. As soon as the knob is turned the television image changes from black & white to colour.

As a child the transformation strikes me as being very profound and almost magically, I had never realised that there was a button that could change the colour settings. As I watch the now colour television screen I see that the band have taken a pause from their music to have a seat with the presenter and to share some conversation with the audience.

Suddenly I feel myself getting drawn into the television, I am now inside the scene on the TV set with the rock group and presenter. I look up to the audience and see that it is made up entirely of women of all ages. I see that the all male band members have intermingled with the audience so that they can get closer to the female fans and share a moment with them.

I look about the large audience trying to spy where each of the band members has gone to sit. One by one I manage to see where each of them is sitting, much to my surprise I am quite taken aback to see that each of the band members has aged considerably. Now rather than being young men they would now appear to be in their late 70’s or 80’s.

I look at one of the band members (ironically it is the drummer, this would definitely tie in with all of my other drum and drumming dreams). His face is very weathered, aged and wrinkled he is almost bold except for a few wisps of grey hair. The man manages to give me a loving and caring smile, as he does this I see the lines on his face wrinkle and crease.

    Pub chat & Kubrickland.

It is daytime and I find myself sat inside a very busy pub, the pub is very old worldly, a big fire is crackling inan open hearth, the atmosphere is very cosy and snug. I’m sat at one of many small tables that have all been brought close together so that the group of people I am with can be more intimate.

The group of people I am with appears to be a club or following of some kind, there is a great camaraderie between us and we all chat amongst ourselves heatedly. The focus of our meeting and the hub of our club is the film director Stanley Kubrick who we all seem to admire and be great fans of.

I feel that Stanley might actually be here too, although if he is I can’t see him as he is surrounded by a throng of his followers eagerly chatting and talking to him close to the fireplace. I am sat nearer to the outside of the circle hence my inability see him although I sense his aura.

Suddenly with a dramatic but soft and seamless shift I am transported from the busy pub to find myself floating just above the ground in a very bizarre landscape. The scene almost looks like a cartoon but it is too real for that. I can see a patchwork landscape of small rolling hills continuing off to the horizon for as far as the eye can see in all directions.

As I look out over the scene I see a small white chunky jumbo jet come floating quirkily down as if suspended on wires or fishing line. It lands down on the patchwork landscape with a couple of bounces. Both the plane and the way it flies is very cartoon like. I realise as soon as I see it that it is never in any danger of crashing due to the spongy and dream like nature of the terrain and the plane.

I sense that it is Stanley Kubrick himself in the aeroplane coming to visit and inspect the landscape.

I feel very lucid and can see the beautiful pastel shades that chequer the landscape very easily, the sky is a pale baby blue and has a scattering of wispy fluffy clouds. I am made aware that this strange land is the creation of Stanley Kubrick, it represents a kind of vast thought form creation in the spirit world.

I see lots of little cottage like houses built by people who are living in this strange but beautiful landscape. Each cottage is built and designed to a very specific and exact template, the people build the houses themselves though.

Even the contents of the houses and the interior layouts are the same as all the other houses, it appears that this format is used to keep a continuity and harmony in ‘Kubrickland’. The people who live here are allowed to embellish their houses in their own colours though, and many of the houses are beautifully decorated.

I float up onto one of the small round hills where I see a man preparing to piece together one of the little cottages. I note that the man and the rest of the people inhabiting this land are very organised. The man in front of me has all of the necessary items and materials laid out in front of him on the ground, it appears to be a very simple case of just slotting everything together.

I float off to explore one of the other half built or unoccupied cottages. Inside I see a small log burner or stove, again this seems to be a feature shared by all of the cottages, save for the colour. I see that the wood burner has a very curved shape similar to a huge sea shell, it has been enamelled with a beautiful shimmering mother of pearl glaze.

With another fading shift I suddenly find myself sat at a small table in another different pub near to a docklands in the town where I went to college. I am sat at the table with two young women, we all chat together and the women share two plates of food with me that they eating from, as we eat we have a vague discussion about food, particularly meat and vegetables.

As we chat we begin to discuss the landlord of the pub who is busy drying glasses behind the bar. He seems to be a quiet kind of person who keeps himself to himself but the way that the two women speak about him implies that he has something to hide or that he isn’t what he seems.

We also chat about some of the others pubs in the town that the women would perhaps like to go and drink at too. I am aware that these other pubs are more like meeting places for biker’s, I don’t find the idea very appealing as the places I see in my minds eye strike me as a bit rough, dangerous and threatening.

After a while of being sat in the pub the two women and I go upstairs and make our way up onto the rooftop.

    Additional Comments:

I can’t think why on earth I dreamt of Stanley Kubrick in this way? I have watched one or two of his films in the past and quite liked them but I am in no way a big fan of his like I seemed to be in this dream?

The shimmering glassy colours in ‘Kubrickland’ were very typical of the kind I see when I am very lucid in my dreams.
