The astrological sixteen.

Date of dream: Tuesday, February 05, 2008

Level of Lucidity:     Level of Cohesiveness:

This dream has been viewed 5028 times.

My wife has arranged a meeting with one of her friends and her partner for us to go out and eat out together (this echoes something which is planned to take place this Saturday). I briefly meet my wife, her friend and partner in a place which very much resembles the back garden of a grandmother I rarely dream of.

My wife’s friend appears as I always remember her, her boyfriend on the other hand (whom I’ve never met in reality) is extremely tall, taller than me in fact which is a surprise, he is blond and muscly and seems the perfect man in both physique and character he also seems to vaguely resemble a recently deceased Hollywood celebrity.

My wife leads her friend over to an outdoor veranda at the back of the garden which is a kind of restaurant where we will all be eating, in fact my wife has gathered together many other unfamiliar people who will all be joining us too, it seems like a very special occasion and something like the gathering of a small club we have arranged.

I hurry off to use the toilet quickly, this is something which I feel I need to do a couple of times and I also want to take a very quick shower too but in the end I feel that this will take too long as everyone else has already started to eat. Even though I’m undressed I decide against rushing to take a shower and feel content that I managed to go to the toilet, I quickly hurry back down to the garden to join everyone as they eat.

Before I do this though I pack two plastic carrier bags full of various items that we will need for later on as my wife and I intend to entertain our guests with a special kind of talk. We plan on giving tarot and astrological readings to all of the people we have gathered here, in a strange kind of way this gathering feels something like a society or club we are trying to start up.

My wife calls up to me from downstairs and tells me to pack five packets of tarot cards in the bag for later on when we entertain the guests, this seems like a tall order at first as I can only ever recall having one packet in the house but I somehow do manage to find all of the 5 packs of cards that we will need.

I cram all of the items into the two carrier bags which are untidy and bulging full and then head on down to the garden to meet up with the guests who incidentally all number exactly 16 (the number sixteen seemed very important, almost a necessity or the exact number needed for our group meeting). Through being distracted with the shower I never took and going to the toilet I’ve missed out on most of the special meal but I seem okay about this, besides now is the time that we all head off to entertain the guests.

My wife and I lead the large group of dream friends to the place where we are going to hold the meeting, as we all walk we each chat amongst ourselves in a lighthearted and friendly way. My wife’s sister is here and is also a part of our gathering she tells me that she has just discovered that her astrological Sun, Moon & Ascendant signs are all Virgo, I feel very excited by this news and tell her that this is a very special thing.

As we enter the ground floor foyer of a large old apartment building my wife chats with a female work colleague who was also the women with the biting wit from this dream ‘Digging deep to bring down a wall.’ - 02/02/08 she is also a part of our group. My wife also bumps into a another woman who I work closely with at work I watch as they chat and I really hope that my wife doesn’t invite her to join our group, fortunately I see that the woman politely declines and we all carry on our way.

Two of the men in this very real group of sixteen people are mathematicians and appear to have been chosen specifically by my wife for some reason, they are a bit eccentric and nerdish.

We walk up some stairs and along a very vivid corridor I am very lucid at this point and can see and note a great deal of detail, the corridor looks vaguely like one from my art college only narrower. I look lucidly at some peeling viridian green wallpaper the corridor looks a little run down but it also feels familiar and I realize that my wife and I once lived here (in a dream reality), I ponder to myself why we didn’t take our guests to our new house instead of bringing them back here?

We enter into a large room at the end of the corridor which looks very open plan almost like an informal meeting room or the sort of place like a staff room where teachers go for coffee breaks at school or college. Once in the room everyone accustoms themselves to the surroundings. In the meantime I take out a little book on astrology which I plan to use to give a little talk to the guests about astrology, I don’t seem to know so much about the topic and intend to use the book as a guide when if I get stuck.

Before my wife and I start to give our talk about astrology and tarot I flick through the book reading it quickly as a kind of refresher. I notice that most of the astrological signs are spoken of very highly by the author with very flattering and nice comments, some of the zodiacal signs are split into specific groups based on their similarities and harmonies this is emphasized with pleasant green and blue colors signifying each group.

I notice that some of the signs of the zodiac are missing or more exactly not grouped together with the other symbols, in fact the exact four which aren’t here are what are known as the four ‘fixed’ signs. I turn the page and see that these four signs have been grouped together on their own and the narrative is less than positive about them, the person who wrote the book has transformed these signs to make them more positive.

For example the Scorpio symbol has been crossed with an Osprey to create a mythological creature the names have changed too to combine elements of both creatures, I see that this magical creature has now become a Scorprey. The Leo sign has sprouted wings and become a griffon also with a new title. The Taurus animal has also received tiny mythological wings of some kind and also a new composite name although the transformation of the bull doesn’t not seem to have necessitated such a radical alteration as did Scorpio and Leo.

I don’t recall seeing Aquarius but I know that this sign is mentioned somewhere in the book but I just haven’t seen it yet. It looks like the author has wanted to make the fixed signs less fixed by giving the creatures associated with those signs more movement particularly with the addition of wings for flight.

I pull myself away from the book realizing I was beginning to get engrossed and that I have guests to think of, I also become distracted when I see the two mathematicians climbing up onto the bay windows. They want to open the large windows to let more air in. I’m not really up for this and try to deter them but they are surprisingly stubborn (and very real with it) so with some okaying from my wife I say that its alright to open them and I get up into the window bays to help open the heavy windows up for them.

Afterwards I ask them why they want to let more air into the room and they tell me it’s because they want to get high, their unusual response startles me and I wonder what they mean by ‘high’, high as in elation or high as in higher.

Additional Comments:

Interpretation: Aquarius although a fixed sign is already moveable in a symbolic sense as it is an air sign, as one of the stronger air signs it has the free movement of the wind. Perhaps this is why that particular symbol didn’t show up with the other more earth based fixed signs, the air symbolism also ties in the mathematicians opening up of the window to let more air in and also with my past recurring air symbolism in many other dreams. The ‘high’ that the mathematicians probably wanted was perhaps meant in a sense of achievement or reaching a goal but also the elation in achieving that goal, maybe this is done through being more flexible or ‘moveable’ like the air as opposed to being stubborn or ‘fixed’ like at lest two of the three fixed animal signs. Incidentally my Sun sign is Scorpio and my ascendant is Aquarius so the symbolism seems to match perfectly, perhaps I should start looking at how the Aquarian qualities might help me out in my waking life and how these attributes might also help me achieve my goals. Also I have read that the Scorpio sign does have a higher and more positive eagle counterpart in fact it is sometimes referred to as the eagle in some circles, this would also definitely seem to link in with the osprey as this bird of prey is often referred to as a ‘sea’ eagle.

Dream 1: The potter’s glaze – I find myself inside the unfamiliar workshop of a man who works with clay for a living, his small shed or outbuilding has some quite large open doors which I gather are always left open which creates a feeling of closeness with nature. As I look about the man’s wares he tells me that I can choose one of the cups he has made as a gift, I pick out a large simple mug with a handle. The clay is hard but hasn’t been fired yet the man asks me what sort of glaze I would like applied to my chosen vessel, there is a large choice of many beautiful colors but I tell him that I want something simple and clear so I select a glaze which is glossy and transparent almost like varnish. He then asks me how I would like the clear glaze applied, I tell him all over but not on the base of the cup, it seems important that he leave this area dry.

Dream 2: Trampled in Japan – (an extremely vivid dream) It is either dusk or twilight and the sky is somber and dim I know that I am in Japan but at some point in the distant past, I am dressed like a knight in armor and feel like a crusader or an invader in these lands. I know that I am near the coast as I can see the sea in front of me from high up on the grassy cliff where I am stood. I’m involved in some kind of warfare it’s very brutal with lots of hand to hand combat although the armor and weaponry feels well made by master craftsman. The war seems to be taking place between European invaders whose side I come from and between the Japanese warriors who live here. I am stood on the ground when a group of horses gallop past me ridden by Japanese soldiers, the Japanese men don’t wear armor as such but wear tunics made out of thick material. I try to prepare an arrow in my bow in order to shoot at a man who is attacking me but I fumble due to the clumsy armor I’m wearing, the soldier on horseback fires an arrow at me from his superior vantage point much more quickly and it thuds into me piercing my armor and penetrating my body. I see that the man’s bow is much more efficient and well made than mine it looks elegant and very eastern almost like something an Arabic or Mongolian soldier might have used centuries ago. The powerful blow from the arrow knocks me to the ground and I am left stranded in the mud lying on my back weighed down with my heavy armor, I see the well made arrow sticking up out of my left shoulder. Suddenly more Japanese horses and soldiers rush by and ride over the top of me, I get caught up in the carnage and get completely trampled on by the very heavy horses (whether this was intentional on their part I cannot tell) one horse steps directly on my head crushing my skull flat, there is no real pain as such but the sensation is very real and the wound is obviously mortal, I die almost instantly but have a few fleeting seconds to take in the horror of what has just happened.

More skiing & the answers are to be found in dreams.

This dream has been viewed 3821 times.

I find myself at the foot of a steep artificial slope which is both indoors and outdoors at the same time (dream logic). The slope looks a little bit like a very wide staircase (without the steps, more of a ramp I guess) and also an artificial ski slope as it has been covered in snow.

There are a handful of people enjoying the sport on the slope and two of my managers are here as well. People can either ski here using traditional skis and sticks or if they are feeling more adventurous they can use a snowboard, my managers don’t feel very brave or confident so they use traditional kit whereas I on the other hand feel much more self-assured and am using a snowboard.

(I’ve never used skis or a snowboard in reality).

We go up and down the slope a few times at my behest, the managers are a little cautious but seem to enjoy themselves in a reserved sort of way. I really get great pleasure from snowboarding and feel extremely confident although there is some nagging little worry at the back of my mind which I can’t quite put my finger on but which I know is unrelated to the skiing.

I make my way back up to the top of the hill where I sit down on a long seat something like a window box or bay window seat (except there is no window), the area has some sturdy copper plumbing pipes running along the wall behind where I am sat they have hot water in them and provide some pleasant warmth which counters the cold of the slope I touch the pipes with my hands and feel that they are very robust and well plumbed in.

A boy who I used to go to primary school with suddenly comes over and sits beside me (I haven’t dreamt of this person in a long time, he seems to pop up from time to time very rarely). He is drinking a mug of powdered soup the kind that comes out of a sachet and hot water is added to it, he tells me it doesn’t taste very good and wouldn’t recommend it.

He then goes on to tell me that he has a deep problem that bothers him he explains this issue in an unorthodox kind of way by expressing it to me in the form of a long mathematical formula only a part of which I now recall, the part I remember looked like this:

    Uncle - ? = King + Queen = ?

The math’s problem puzzles him and he doesn’t have any ideas or clues as to how to solve it.

I tell him lucidly to look at his dreams as all of the answers are to be found there. He doesn’t believe me so I insist more firmly repeating until the dream fades “Look at your dreams, look at your dreams, look....”

    Additional Comments:

I can’t tell if the mathematics puzzle is meant to represent some kind of real tangible personal concern or is more of an abstract puzzle concerning some kind of inner drama (I guess it could even be a mix of the two). Either way this was a really positive dream for me where I felt full of confidence and in control.

In another dream from this night I found myself in a cross between a sports changing room and a large public toilet. I go over to use a lavatory but I have to sit on somebody’s lap who is already sat on the toilet, it’s not at all negative and quite normal apparently, a kind of service provided to visitors to the rest room (?).

    Repositioning the school toilet’s cistern.

Date of dream: Friday, August 24, 2007

Level of Lucidity:     Level of Cohesiveness:

This dream has been viewed 3986 times.

I find myself in the corridor of a vaguely unfamiliar school (but which is probably meant to represent my old secondary school judging by the characters in the dream) I am stood next to an open door leading into some toilets, I am looking over the threshold at a familiar mathematics teacher who is doing something to the cistern of the toilet.

Stood with me at the doorway is a familiar nun who was also a teacher at this school, the woman in her religious clothing is also watching what the math’s teacher is doing too.

I gather that the cistern is either leaky or needs repositioning in order to increase the pressure or gravity that will flush the toilet, it looks like quite a tricky job but the math’s teacher is very competent and moves the whole toilet back near the rear wall away from the entrance door (the cistern may even have had a slight crack in it but either way the math’s teacher seemed to fix the problem).

The nun has a strange expression on her face I can’t tell if she is a bit peeved by what the teacher is doing in that she wanted to be the one doing this job instead of the male math’s teacher but is restricted for some reason and cannot cross the threshold of the corridor into the toilet or if she is just simply pulling a quizzical frown in trying to understand the technical process that is involved in moving the toilet and re-plumbing it back in.

Strangely this toilet is a unisex toilet intended to be used by both males and females.

    Additional Comments:

I think that there is something symbolic going on here with this one. I found it strange that the nun wouldn’t cross the threshold to go into the toilet particularly as it was a unisex toilet, there wasn’t really anything stopping her? I’ve read that corridors are often seen as being a female symbol so maybe her reluctance to leave the corridor has something to do with it although I’m not sure what that is meant to signify for me at a personal level, maybe something to do with spiritual or religious (the nun) cleansing or discarding (the toilet)?
