Daytime and I have been walking for what feels like eons through Africa and I have finally managed to reach a vast gorge beyond which is a coastline and my way out of Africa.

I want to leave now and carry on my way but a guiding voice that has been hovering and following me all this while tells me that I can’t continue any further without first taking a rest, the guide adds the temperature and the dry searing heat will kill me if I don’t stop to take some respite.

The guide indicates for me to go and sleep inside a lush green bush on top of the cliff overlooking the gorge so I get down on my hands and knees and go to crawl inside. But much to my shock I’m immediately confronted by a large snake, surprisingly I take the initiative and grab the snake by the tail and pull it out. The snake wriggles and whips around trying to bit me but I manage to throw it over the side of the gorge.

I go back to my bush and try to climb inside once again but this time I am confronted by a huge ferocious tiger, we both wrestle with one another in a savage embrace, amazingly once again I have the upper hand and manage to wrestle the huge cat into submission.

The tiger melts into my body as I embrace it and before I fall asleep inside the bushy plant.

Additional Comments:

Thoughts: This dream seems to follow on from my Kenya dream of yesterday and is also probably about my life path I guess, the dream’s symbolism may also be linked to my primitive and instinctual feelings and how I am working with such feelings.

Dream 1: The giant and the fairy – Daytime and I find myself in the house of a giant rugby player, I watch him as awakens from his sleep in his bed. The giant takes me to his sitting room and he asks me about some childhood friends I once had, I tell him that they weren’t really friends and that they were very cliquey towards me. Just as he says this I see one of the childhood friends sat in an armchair in front of me, I hadn’t noticed him at all and now I feel very conscious and awkward of the response I gave to the giant. I feel very embarrassed and as if I have been tricked somehow so I quickly run out of the house and into the giants garden, I feel very anxious but suddenly out of the corner of my eye I think I see a tiny fairy hovering to my left just out of the corner of my eye I turn away and it disappears and I end up wondering if I really did see the fairy.

Dream 2: Older is wiser – At a football stadium I discuss with an unfamiliar dream person about who I would pick to be on my soccer team if I had the choice, the dream friend says that he would pick the youngest stars as they would be fit and quick. I disagree and tell him that I would pick all of my favourite stars from when I was little (its at this point I seem them sat about me waiting for the match to begin) I add that the now grey haired men will be wiser and know what to expect from their past experience and hence won’t need to expend so much energy as the younger men.

Dream 3: Stealing the blue hat – Night time in the city centre of Japan and a brother-in-law has taken me to an immense skyscraper, the building is quiet with only one or two security guards about, I sense that we have to be discreet when we enter if we are to go unnoticed. My brother-in-law indicates for us to get into a lift which we take up to the top floor of the skyscraper, at the zenith of the vast towering building and in a hallowed shrine like room my brother-in-law steals a hallowed relic from its display cabinet, the artefact is a holy looking lapis lazuli coloured skull cap made from some kind of velvety silk. As soon as the little head cap is removed from its display alarm bells start ringing and the skyscraper’s security guards all leap into life. The brother-in-law and I dive back into the elevator and make our way back down to the ground level, once at the bottom I take a brief moment to take out a long samurai style sword which I use to inscribe a strange vertical column of oriental style glyphs onto the marble floor. Once I have finished scratching the sigil into the floor we both dash out from the building with the precious blue hat. It feel as if we have perhaps taken something we shouldn’t have but I also feel a bit like Jack from the tale of the beanstalk having stolen the giants golden goose.

Dream 4: Paul McCartney’s guitarist – I find myself at a Paul McCartney concert back stage, I watch a scene as Paul tries to get his guitarist who looks like a kind of Elvis style rockabilly to come out on stage to play with him. The guitarist seems very sombre and full of the blues he prefers to play his guitar back stage down in a sloping subterranean car park because he feels the acoustics are conducive to his mood and the way he feels.

Dream 5: A daring caress – In an unfamiliar house I am sat down on a sofa with an unfamiliar dream woman, my wife sits across from us on an easy chair. My wife leaves the room momentarily to get some hot drinks, no sooner has my wife left the room than the woman unzips my trousers and takes my penis out and begins fondling me. I’m completely shocked and am all a turmoil full of mixed feelings of pleasure on the one hand but complete panic on the other as my wife is perhaps only 6 feet away and could return back at any moment.

    The challenges of Kenya.

Daytime and I find myself walking through the countryside near to my childhood hometown. From within the dream this countryside also happens to be Kenya (dream logic).

I am accompanied by a small group of unfamiliar people who are out on some kind of adventure safari challenge. We are being led by some kind of tall lean wise guiding African tribal man who is taking us to visit each of the challenges, these tasks have a feel of the ‘Labours of Hercules’ about them.

We are taken to a snow capped mountain where two of the men from our group compete with one another to ski and snowboard down the mountain the quickest. The younger snowboarder immediately fails by falling over and comes tumbling down the mountainside. The other dapper gent who has a rather rugged poker face swiftly skis down the mountain without a hitch.

I’m very impressed by the way the older man skied down the mountain and wish to try it for myself, I ask the tall guide if I can try that but he says “No” adding that I have to stay down at the base of the mountain and replace the broken window of our small touring mini-bus.

    Additional Comments:

Thoughts: This dream might be linked to my reflections of my past and also about childhood and adulthood, the changing of the windscreen might suggest that I perhaps need to deal with my perspectives or ways of seeing before I am able to cope with the big challenges as represented by the mountain?

Dream 1: Sceptic in the library – Daytime and the rock group Pink Floyd have released a record which I feel I simply must buy in fact everyone in this particular dream construct seems impelled to go out and buy this record. I eventually manage to locate a copy of the record which has a slightly psychedelic front cover reminiscent to those of another band called the Moody Blues, I purchase the record and then head off to an unfamiliar library. I meet many people at the library who seem to share a common interest with me we all lay down on the floor and get into sleeping bags just as the psychic sceptic James Randi enters the library to give some kind of lecture on library tickets.

Dream 2: The dead sunflower – I am at my Nan’s house in her sitting room my Nan holds some kind of pot or dish which I am placing dead flowers and stems into the ambiance is sombre but also amicable. I pick up the very large head of a dead dried sunflower and go to place it into the pot. I have the urge to break the sunflower head in half and in doing so I release a cloud of green mould spores. My Nan looks at me with a kind of ‘hey ho’ expression and a shrug and a smile as if to say it’s just the way of life.

Dream 3: The cinema at work – Daytime and I find myself at a place which feels like my work but which looks a bit like a past 6th form college I went to, I walk down into a large hall or auditorium where I see some familiar work colleagues all milling about not far from where I can see a huge cinema screen. I can also see some workmen laying down some new floor tiles inside the auditorium the job looks laborious and like quite hard work. The work colleagues look very excited at the prospect of the cinemas first showing, everyone tells me that it will be Star Wars which will be the first showing. When the French colleagues say the words “Star Wars” I find the accent and pronunciation very sweet but surprisingly when I say the words “Star Wars” I also say it with a French accent which surprises me quite a lot.

    HelloDali’s fireplace.

(This was an early morning dream quite vivid but short). I find myself in an unfamiliar upper floor apartment in a tallish building the flat would appear to be mine. The room I am in is a lounge and is vaguely orange and brown in colour it’s kind of cosy with large rugs here and there and tall bookcases full of books, the room has a vaguely warm dry African feel about it.

The Dream Journal member HelloDali has popped around to pay a visit he is accompanied by a quiet lady with long light brown slightly wavy hair with golden blond highlights. Apparently he is having a new fireplace or hearth fitted in his house and he wanted to come and chat with me about his plans and to ask me a few questions as it would appear that I have recently had a fireplace fitted too. We sit down on one couch apiece and I say, “What about having a large fireplace built out of red brick?” In my minds eye I visualise this fireplace as having a large arch above it.

HelloDali isn’t so keen on the idea and tells me that he is looking for something more contemporary and modern without fussiness. Realising I have some brochures I take them out from under a coffee table to show him, whilst he flicks through the magazines and booklets I remember that I have a small portfolio of paintings that I have made of my dreams and I feel that I would like to show him them (in reality no such pictures exist).

I leaf through the very crinkly pages and pass the watercolour pictures to him one by one and vaguely explain what each dream had meant to me. The pictures look slightly childish in their bright colours with bold brush strokes but there is some control there making them look a little Picasso like or post modern. I summon up just enough lucidity to analyse my own pictures, take in their style and realise that I am (most probably) dreaming before waking up.
