It is early morning and I find myself waking up in a bedroom in which I lived about 3 years ago, the sunlight is pouring through the blinds in glorious fashion. I feel on top of the world and alive it feels wonderful to have so much space to stretch out and move around in the big bed.

I hadn’t noticed straight away due to my hazy sleepy eyes but as I rub them I see that there are lots of beautiful maidens sat resting on the bed looking at me. They all greet me with a cheery “Good morning sleepy head!” with happy smiles on their beautiful faces just as if I had been asleep for years.

I sit up in bed and prop a pillow up behind so that I’m more comfortable. It soon becomes apparent to me that I am a lot younger and perhaps only a young boy again. The maidens who are all older than me make feel very excited to be with, they all ask me with a joyful curiosity “So, what did you just dream!”

I tell them that it was a silly sort of dream that didn’t really mean anything, I then recount the dream I had before I woke up (this dream within a dream never really happened, at least not in the traditional sense). I tell the fair ladies that I had a dream about a big horse that went to the hairdresser for a hair cut (?).

The maidens tell me that the dream isn’t a jumble or silly at all but has a meaning, they tell me to look more closely at the dreams symbolism and to try and think what it might mean.

Just then my Mum comes into the bedroom and brings me some cooked eggs for breakfast, I feel immediately embarrassed and annoyed by this intrusion in a very immature childish sort of way, I was trying the impress the maidens with my conversation and now my Mum is here fussing and cramping my style.

Thoughts: My dreams in the past day or two have been extremely vivid and real and this dream was no exception, the sensation of reciting an imaginary (if that is what it is?) dream within a dream really is most peculiar, I can imagine that the little tale of the horse having his haircut (or perhaps that should be mane!) really does actually has some kind of a meaning at some level? Dream 1: Free the tortoise – In a large unfamiliar house I have a pet tortoise which I decide to not keep in a terrarium any longer, I let him out so that he can have the freedom of the building to go where he pleases. I make a pile out of dandelion leaves for him to tuck into and watch as he climbs up onto the little mound of foliage. I sense some vague grey people in the background who don’t agree with my freeing the little creature but I don’t agree with them and ignore their negative outlook. Dream 2: Sensitive radio equipment – A work colleague and I are watching a news story with moving pictures, a huge low loader lorry with many wheels is transporting what looks like an enormous antennae or satellite dish receiver and radio equipment, the news report explains that the delicate electronics inside the many cabinets were damaged in transit by somebody who cast a mysterious influence over the sensitive equipment. I comment on the news story saying that the person who damaged the equipment must have been a fool to do such a thing. The colleague immediately tells me that it was in fact he who was responsible for damaging the sensitive kit. I feel immediately embarrassed for calling him a fool indirectly, the colleague looks at me not so much annoyed but taken aback by my direct and honest comment.
