I am hired at a Denny's type of diner as a waiter. I am hired for Mon-Wed. (My current off-work
days). I go to work my first day. I am given only five tables until I get the hang of things. I wait on
four separate tables. I take off early from my shift as things are slow.
The next day I have been busy doing things and forget about my shift. I also realize I did not run my
tape and turn in my money from the day before. I thought I might as well not go back since they will
fire me for no call no show.
I go to dinner with my mom and her friend at the diner that night. I go up to the supervisor and tell her
I was sorry I missed my shift. I told her I had the money from the previous shift I worked and wanted
to take care of that. I apologized for everything and told her if she gave me another chance I wouldn't
mess up again. She said that would be fine. She actually seemed pleased with me rather than
mad...Strange?
Additional Comments:
Working in restaurants, and being back in England in the military or in the military period are
reoccuring themes for me. All the waiter dreams as long as I can remember have involved me not
being able to order the food correctly or having too many customers to the point of not being able to
provide good service. This dream my service was fantastic. It just seems I forget when to give
it...lol...I am happy that it all turned out okay in the end though.
