I was on a trip to a big city, with a group of friends. I think it was London, despite the fact that it seemed unfamiliar, and I've been to London many times before. I had two female friends with me, and we were shopping. There seemed to be a new trend for shops selling eclectic Japanese products, and I loved looking around these shops at all the colourful clothes and unusual sweets. We sent to one shop which had a sweet and ice cream counter on the top floor. I saw some sweets shaped like pink lobsters, and some other fizzy things. I really wanted both, but I had no money. I'd been upset about something, so one of my friends volunteered to treat me. She told teh man on the counter to start giving me whatever sweets I wanted, and not stop until I smiled. He picked up a small stuffed gorilla, which had sweets in a compartment in its stomach, and he twisted the top of its head to make it look like it had a funny hairstyle. I liked the gorilla, but I wanted the lobster sweets, which I pointed to. Despite the fact he'd been told to give me whatever I wanted, it became clear he was only going to give me the gorilla, so I accepted it and tried not to be too disappointed. I also bought myself some apple liquorice.
My friends and I sat down at a table, when there was suddenly a commotion behind us. A few tables over was an older man, and he had started vomiting on the floor. I have a phobia of vomit, so panic mode instantly set in. There was something clearly wrong with the man - he kept throwing up wave after wave of bright orange and green liquid. I needed go get out - there were two flights of stairs, and I needed to go to the one furthest away from the man. My friends tried to stop me leaving, but I was terrified, and I ran. I reached one set of stairs - each step was painted with a different pattern, and I started running. I realised that the vomiting man was coming down the stairs behind me, so my panic intensified - I ran as fast as I possibly could, and eventually ended up out in the street.
Now alone, I went into another Japanese store. They had a cosmetics section at one end, and a shop assistant was getting yelled at for putting two types of persume on one tray. It didn't seem like a big deal, but the other staff were looking at the girl like she'd just murdered someone, so I knew what she'd done must have been really bad. I carried on looking round, and I realised that one of the shop assistants was an ex-colleague of mine, Dave. I hadn't seen him for ages, and I was surprised to see him in London. I went to chat to him - I wasn't sure if he remembered me, so I reminded him that I had also been friends with his ex. He asked how she was, and I told him she was fine. Two girls independantly arrived to talk to us. I realised that we didn't know them, but they both fancied Dave, and they were trying to get me away from him, even though I wasn't interested in him in that way. My mum appeared, and I introduced her to Dave, and my mum made some comment about how I was always introducing her to men (which isn't true!). Dave looked worried, so she said "Don't worry, sometimes she introduces me to ugly ones too". He looked confused, so I explained that this just meant she liked him.

I'd been sent on a week-long course with work, and I was staying at a hotel in Reading. The course was in an ancient building which was a school and college, and also taught adult courses. I'm not sure what I was there to learn, but Jillian from the Biggest Loser was there, and during our lunch breaks she taught us how to do workouts. It was the last day of the course, and I had planned to go for a jog during lunch. For some reason, loads of things kept delaying me, and by the time I was ready, there were only 15 minutes left. I insisted on going anyway, and I set off for a quick jog.
I ended up outside the other end of the building, where a load of people were filing inside. There were children, and also some adults taking college courses. One of the adults was a really attractive man. He stopped to talk to me, and I was surprised. He had quite a posh accent, and I somehow knew he came from a large country house. I was very conscious of the fact that I was wearing my jogging clothes, and I was all sweaty, but he seemed to find my nervousness endearing. The feeling I got when I was talking to him was one of being out of my league, like when you're at school and someone from a couple of years above you deigns to chat to you like a normal person. He eventually had to leave to go to class. Instead of running back around to the front of the building, I decided to go inside and cut through. The inside of the building was very modern, and I quickly got lost. I wandered for what felt like hours, and I eventually got to a point where I realised it was too late to get to my final class, so I decided to head straight for the train station.
In the train station was a stand selling Japanese food. I decided I wanted a green tea icecream, so I sat at the bar at the front of the stall, and ordered one. I also ordered two coffees, despite the fact that I hate coffee, and two full-sized packets of chocolate digestives. As soon as I'd ordered it all, I felt guilty for sabotaging my diet. I attempted to drink the coffee, but it tasted as vile as I remember. After a few minutes, my boss Nicky arrived and sat next to me. I gave the biscuits to her. I offered her the coffee too. When I passed her the cups, they felt cold, and when she looked inside, they were empty. I realised I must have drunk them both without realising.
Nicky left, and a young woman came and sat next to me. She had long red hair, and was quite pretty. She told me her name was Lucy, and we chatted for a while. She told me she wanted to have a baby, but she couldn't for some reason - either her boyfriend didn't want one, or she was single, I can't remember which but it wasn't a medical reason. She finished her drink and left, and I started chatting to one of the Japanese men who worked on the stall. As we chatted, I noticed Lucy walking through the station towards the door, and she had a toddler with her. She was holding its hand and leading it outside. I knew she had stolen the child, and I kept thinking "the police will want to speak to me about this tomorrow". Despite the fact that I knew she was stealing the child, I did nothing to try and stop it.

I was at work, and I was getting ready to leave. My friend Shell was meeting me from work. Over the previous few weeks, I'd had regular contact with a man named Daniel. I'm not sure if he was a supplier, or someone from a support company, but we had been emailing each other reguarly. To start with, it was only to do with work, but as time had gone on, we'd started chatting and being friendly and flirty. When I met Shell, we were trying to decide what to do, and she suggested I text Daniel. I did, and he said he was in the area, and would come and meet us. Seconds later, he appeared. I was pleasantly surprised - I thought that with my luck, he's be really old or ugly, but he was actually really attractive. He was tall and thin, with messy blonde hair. He seemed to take an instant shine to me, which I was also surprised about. He told us he was on his way to a show at a local bar, and asked us to join him, so we agreed.
The three of us arrived at a large bar. It had two storeys, with a bar on each floor. At one end, there was a stage. On the second floor, there was a hole in the floor above the stage, and balconies around it. The bar was packed. I needed the toilet, so Shell and I went to the ladies' room. There were loads of people there, and we had to push and climb over people to get to the toilets. For some reason, this process seemed to take forever, and I was convinced that Daniel would have left. I was amazed to find that he had waited for us, when we eventually made our way out. He led us to the upstairs bar, where there were three spare seats. He sat in one, but before I could get to one, a man tried to take it. Daniel pushed him away, and gave the seat to me. I looked towards the balconies, and saw my ex boyfriend, Rich's new girlfriend sitting right at the edge of the balcony. She was wearing a tight black dress with red roses and white skulls on it. She was sitting bolt upright, with her hands in her lap, and was staring straight ahead at the stage and the balconies. I wasn't happy, but I tried not to let it show.
The show began - it was a variety, circus-style show, with lots of different acts. After about half an hour, there was an act which consisted of men in pirate suits, running and climbing all over the place. Daniel got up and joined in, and I realised that he was part of the act, which was how he'd managed to secure us some seats. I was having a great time and enjoying his act, when I looked back over towards the edge of the stage, and saw that Rich was now sitting next to his girlfriend. He was wearing a gothic style suit, with a waistcoat and cravat made of the same material as her dress. He was also sitting straight, hands in lap and staring forwards. The sight of them together made my stomach churn, and even though I was having a great time with Daniel, I knew I had to leave before I had a breakdown. I could hardly breathe, and I grabbed my bag and fled, leaving Shell and Daniel behind.
Additional Comments:
I think this one is fairly straightforward to interpret - I think it's about me thinking that I'll never find a decent man, hence my surprise that the attractive, nice guy showed an interest. I think it's also about the fear that I've been so damaged by what happened with Rich, that I'll never be able to get over it, and it will affect my future relationships.
