I was at home, and I really needed to go to the supermarket because there was no food in the house. I had received a letter from the bank that morning saying that something was wrong with my credit card. Although the card itself hadn't expired, the ability to use money on the card had expired. I phoned the bank and they said they couldn't see anything wrong with it. I decided to go to the supermarket anyway, but I still had a nagging feeling that my card wasn't going to work.
I got to the supermarket and filled up a trolley full of food. I did my best to get all the cheapest options, just in case the card failed. I got to the till and was served by a young man. The shopping came to £36. I gave him my card, and as I'd expected, it failed. I asked him to try again, but it failed again. I knew I would have to phone the bank again when I got home, but in the meantime I really needed to get some food. I think I had children in the dream, and I needed to get food for them. I looked in my purse and I had a £10 note. I asked the man to help me pick as much food from the trolley as I could for £10, but he said he couldn't because everything had already been scanned through. My only option was to pay for it. I explained the situation and by this time I was starting to get a bit teary through frustration and embarassment. I asked if there was anything he could do to help me. He explained that every till had an overflow safe which was used to store the money that the cashier accidentally gained through giving incorrect change etc. He told me he would look in the till. There was exactly £36 in there, so he took it out and used it to pay for my shopping. I was so grateful I could have kissed him. I finished shopping and left, promising myself that I would write a letter to his manager, commending him for helping me, without actually stating where he got the money from.
Back at home, I met up with a female friend of mine. In one corner of my living room was a huge glass-fronted freezer, with 4 doors, like you'd find in a supermarket. The bottom left side of the freezer cabinet was frosted up, and my friend pointed this out to me. I chipped away at the ice, revealing piles of ice cream tubs. Somehow, the items in the freezer represented people in a nearby prison, and the ice cream tubs were visitors. The fact that they had been trapped in the ice meant the visitors in the actual prison had been unable to leave. I told my friend this was extremely dangerous, and if there had been a fire then the visitors would have died. I knew I needed to have a very serious conversation with whoever was in charge of defrosting the freezer.
My friend and I needed to get changed to go to a formal event. I put on a pink gown with 6 inch black stilettoes. The shoes were amazing and I loved them. He had to walk down about 8 flights of stairs to get to the floor where the event was being held. There was one lowere level, but this was where the bathrooms and cloakrooms were. I didn't realise this at first, and started walking down the last flight of stairs, but I realised quickly and headed back up. I bumped into a girl I knew from college called Amanda. She was wearing a white gown with a gold pattern on it. It was a nice dress, but she didn't look right in it. It was too big and she just looked like a little girl who was wearing her mum's clothes. She looked me up and down as she passed, like she was judging me, but I knew I was looking really good. I went back up to meet my friends, and we had to walk up one last flight of stairs. We met with two more friends on the stairs. I kept stopping to lift my foot up and show them my shoes, but because of the angle of the stairs, they couldn't see them. I made them all stop once we reached the top so that I could show them my shoes, and they all agreed that they were amazing.

I was away for the weekend with my friend Sam. I think we had been at a rock festival of some description. There weren't all that many people there, but it was being televised, and was a huge TV event, watched the world over. My other friend Elaine (Sam's mother) had told us that she would be at the festival too, though she was going alone. We had hoped to meet up with her, but we hadn't managed to find her. I got a text message from her telling us that she'd decided to pursue her dream of becoming a band manager, and that she had made friends with a famous band who were going to give her her big break.
Later on that evening, Sam and I went back to our hotel room and turned on the TV so that we could watch the televised footage of what had been going on at the other multiple stages at the festival. The TV guide told us that one channel was showing the band that Elaine was now managing, so we decided to watch that hoping to catch a glimpse of her. We flicked to the right channel to see a shot of the stage, with Elaine standing there setting up the microphones - we were really excited to see her. She was wearing a pinstrip miniskirt with stockings, and a fitted pinstrip jacket with a flared back, over a red and white bra. Her hair and make-up had all been done, and she looked amazing. The band started to appear at the side of the stage, and they were all wearing similar outfits. Elaine went to leave, but the crowd shouted for her to stay and sing a song. She told them she couldn't sing, but the band insisted she stay and at least try. They started playing music for her, and she started singing. She had the most amazing voice, very rocky, and the crowd went wild. Sam and I were stunned, because we'd never heard her sing, but we were so excited to see her doing so well. By the time she finished singing, the crowd were going wild, and wanted to see her more than the band they'd actually paid to see. Sam and I realised that we'd just witnessed Elaine's big break, and we were really excited and happy for her.

I was in London with a group of colleagues, and we were thinking about relocating out business there. My friend Kerrie was there too, and we decided to go exploring. After walking for a while, we went down an alleyway and found ourselves in a grimy underworld area. The alleyway widened, and everything was damp and the colour of rust (looked a bit like something out of Silent Hill). On the left, as we entered the alley, was a staircase which was guarded by two men in suits - I knew they were gangsters. We continued walking, and the alley narrowed again. There was a large pipe on our left, and there were three dead bodies stuffed behind it. They were clearly old - they were essentially skeletons with leathery skin stretched over them - and they were the same rust colour as everything else. We continued to the end of the alleyway, and found ourselves facing three doors. One at the dead end, and two on the right of us. We couldn't go through the doors, so we backtracked.
Just before we reached the bodies, we noticed a wooden staircase heading up and to the left. We started to climb it, and as it curved round, the walls were now wallpapered in green. There was a portrait of a woman on the wall. It was old and damaged, with tears and holes in it. At the top of the stairs was a small landing and another door. We went inside and found ourselves in a small apartment. It only had two rooms - a living room with a kitchen area attached, and a bathroom. As we entered the room, I started to think someone lived here, then all of a sudden a woman came shrieking out of the bathroom. It was clearly the same woman from the portrait, but she was old now - mid 60s, maybe 70s. She was extremely thin and quite tall, and she looked haggard. She attacked us both, quite fiercely for someone her age. I tried to explain that we hadn't meant to intrude, but she wouldn't listen to us. Eventually, we managed to incapacitate her. I don't know what we did, but she ended up sitting on the closed toilet seat, and she was unable to move. We had damaged her arms too - I think maybe we'd cut her hands off. She was still screaming and flailing, but we squeezed pst her and climbed out of the bathroom window, onto the roof. There were loads of uneven rooftops, as though there were lots of houses nearby. The roofs were all edged with decorative carvings. We climbed for ages, before climbing down a ladder into a marketplace.
The market lined both sides of a street, with stalls in the middle of the street every now and again. We walked through the stalls. I saw an Indian woman selling jewellery and fabrics, and I stopped to buy something - I think it was a cushion. Towards the end of the market was a round stall, which seemed to sell jokes and games, There were men wandering round near the stall, advertising. They were wearing strange belts with animal heads on, designed to look like they were riding on the animals back. The people running the stall were called The Randoms. I don't know why, but they were really important, influential people. They seemed lighthearted, but I knew they could be very dangerous.
I'm not sure what happened next, but I was back where I started with my other colleagues, and a few days had passed. My friend Kevin and I had been tasked with finding a location for our new business. I remembered the creepy underworld I had found, and thought it would probably be cheap there. I told Kev to follow me, and we headed back there. Inside the alleyway, the two security men were still there. I made sure to walk with my head held high, as though I wasn't afraid (even though I was) because I knew that we would need to fit in if we were going to work here. As we continued down the alleyway, we approached the bodies. I had a thought appear in my head; "If it weren't for our feet, we'd be fine". I looked at the bodies and noticed that their feet stuck out under the pipe, and could be seen from the other end of the alleyway. I realised the thought hadn't been my own, but had come from one of the bodies.
We carried on until we got to the three doors at the end of the alley. The one on the dead end was locked. One of the other two doors said "Charge Incident" on the door, and the other was blank. The blank door appeared to be a cupboard. I opened the Charge door, and inside was another body, in the same state as the others, but with a ragged hole in his chest. I realised he was a maintenance man who had died in an electrical accident, and he had just been left there. This really scared me, more than the other bodies, because this one was like a secret we shouldn't have found. We started to backtrack again, and noticed the wooden staircase. I had completely forgotten about what had happened after Kerrie and I had reached this point. As we continued on, I kept noticing things like the portrait, which made me remember bits and pieces of the incident.
We reached the apartment door, and before we went in, I recited a verse about being blind - it just seemed to come out involuntarily, almost like it was a protective charm before we entered the room. We went back inside, and I had a memory of the woman attacking us. We moved into the bathroom, and she was still sitting on the toilet seat, with her hands behind her back. I was really afraid to see her hands, but she didn't show them. She was emaciated, and I knew she couldn't move, and was starving to death. She was really subdued, and let us walk past her to the window. I tilted the glass in the window, and looked out. It was pitch black outside, even though it was daytime. I climbed out onto the roof - carefully, because I couldn't see through the darkness. Once I got onto the roof, it was sunny again. Kev followed me, but instead of being on the decorative roofs I had found before, we were on top of a tiny plain roof. We climbed down, and found ourself back in the marketplace. I couldn't remember what we were there for. I saw the Indian woman, and thought about asking her for help, but I didn't think she would remember me. As we walked through the market, I saw the men advertising for The Randoms, and realised that these were the people I had been leading Kev to. I advised him to buy a funny costume to wear before the meeting but he refused.
There was an unrelated scene at the end of the dream, where I was standing on the platform of an old-fashioned train station, waving goodbye to my mother. There was something involving a kitten too.
