The tree in my backyard had no leaves, and the sky was purple with faint swirls. A green fairy flew in between the branches, followed by a small golden fairy. I turned my gaze to the sky, and saw a face etched into the clouds, empty eye sockets and a mouth formed into a silent scream. I woke up in bed, paralyzed. I could hear many angry voices speaking around me, and the chanting got louder and more confusing until I woke up...
Sleep paralysis. Am I the first to say that I actually enjoy hallucinating while struggling to fully wake up?

My parents and I went to a mall/bazaar in Mexico. When we arrived a thick perfume scent greeted our noses, which made us feel drowsy and sluggish. My dad said he didn't like the odd perfume, but we have been here before and we were used to it so we went our seperate ways. Before I left on my own, however, I informed my mom that I was going to the pet shop, which was located inside the building. The mall/bazaar was one large room, and they sold jewelry, clothes, games, auto parts, medicine, animals, etc. I approached the cages that held the animals, and I noticed a stray black kitten walking around. As I observed it a toddler tried to pick up the kitten by placing his hands underneath the kitten's belly, near its hind legs. I went up to the kid and told him that he was not picking up the kitten correctly, so I showed him how to carry it by putting one hand beneath its belly near the hind legs and another hand near the front legs. He seemed to grasp the idea and was about to lift the kitten, but then he lost interest or perhaps he got distracted by something else so he walked way, and I proceeded to look inside the cages.
There was a gray cat, and there was also a white cat. I saw a rat, and the rat was huge, filthy, and had vile eyes. I felt disturbed and decided not to look at the snakes and spiders. I actually did see them from the corner of my eye, and I noticed they had the same cruel eyes. Unnerved, I walked away from there and made up my mind to leave the place. My mom walked by and I told her I was leaving. She answered ''Okay'' and turned around to the exit as well. I started to say something else, but she kept walking away as if she couldn't hear me. She wasn't far away yet and I raised my voice and said ''Hey I'm talking to you why are you ignoring me!?''. I could of just followed her since I planned to leave anyways, but I was stubborn and stood my ground. As I was standing there I realized that my words had sounded muddled, and I wondered if perhaps the strange perfume fogged our voices or made us a bit deaf. I saw my dad ahead, whom was also walking towards the exit. He turned around and looked straight at me, but he didn't say anything and left. Now I wondered if perhaps the perfume fogged our vision too, or maybe he had seen me and decided that I would follow them sooner or later. I turned my head around and saw an old chubby man with a sombrero. He looked very worried and upset.
Instead of taking the path my parents had chosen, which was quicker, I walked around a table that was covered with cheap jewelry. A man and a woman, both about forty years of age, where talking to me rapidly. They were speaking in a language I didn't comprehend but I assumed that they were tryng to sell me their products. They looked very cheerful but in a demented sort of way. I politely told them that I was about to leave, and the woman poked my shoulder with one heavy finger. Then one of them grabbed me, and in that moment I knew that they wanted to rob me so that they could sell me. I was trapped in a way that I couldn't move my arms very much, although the grip wasn't too strong. Apparently my parents hadn't left, and I saw a tiny pebble zoom near my way and hit my captor's elbow so hard that he let me go. I slowly ran towards my parents, and they struggled to reach me as well. The two strangers still stood there, grinning like maniacs, but they also looked confused somehow. I reached my parents, joyful, and for some reason they handed me popcorn. I looked at my hands, puzzled (why popcorn?) but I was so happy to be reunited and I lifted my head up to look at my parents.
Instead of seeing my parents I saw the strangers leering at me with their macabre faces. Both of them grabbed my hands, and my dream turned into a cartoon. Bright fireworks sprung in the colorful background, and large white letters appeared, which spelled out TRAUMA.
