It was like being sucked into a Zelda-esque game - the land itself was really beautiful in a weird way. All rolling hills with forests in the valleys. The sky seemed bigger with wide variations in clouds - you could easily see where the storms were. There were also these isolated lightning storms, big black roiling clouds that hung low in the sky - drifting about halfway between the other clouds and the ground. These moved fast. Very fast.
I can't remember what I was trying to accomplish, if anything, I mostly remember seeing one of those black storms scooting quickly toward us (I was with a couple other people but I don't remember who). We had to race to the nearest house and almost didn't make it in time. I collapsed inside and wished I had gotten farther in to the house before dropping. I was too near a window and while the lightning couldn't reach the air felt heavy and painfully charged. It was enough to freeze my muscles as if they were cramping. It was an incredible relief when it finally moved on. I know it was moving pretty quick but it FELT like a long time.
When we were sure it had drifted well away we started to go back ourside but as soon as I peeked out the door I heard this distinctive, odd chirping and glimpsed a little yellow cricket with a black stripe down its back. Icy fear shot down my spine and I slammed the door, ran the other direction yelling for everyone to grab something blunt and weapon-like. I recognized the cricket from my first experience there - I couldn't remember exactly what it did but it was bad and permanent. (I think it drained intelligence - I mostly remember knowing that you REALLY did not want that thing to touch you) Everyone around went in to a panic - most people simply ran away. Only the brave risk getting close to those crickets to kill them.

There was more to it but these are the only parts I remember.
Went to visit Dad in Washington - for some reason he was still with his second wife and those horrible kids of hers were now selfish, disrespectful teenagers. One of them was always sleeping and got really angry if anyone woke him up. In a previous dream Dad had called to tell me he made some banners and other medieval decorations for our re-enactment group out of posterboard but one of the boys had ripped a couple of them 'accidentally' (this dream was a a few months ago) and I got to see what he meant. All the banners were beautiful - he is an excellent artist - and the ripped ones were complimentary red and blue fish. I agreed it really was a shame they were torn but reassured him no one yet had a fish as on their coat of arms so it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Most of the others WERE armorial and would be more appreciated for that.
About an hour later a thunderstorm blew in and snapped one of the tall trees in the back yard in half (I had been outside at the time and was worried it might - there was a weak spot in the tree, I was worried it would fall on me because the way the wind was blowing it was hard to predict how it would fall) somehow it managed to crash down without causing any damage. We were all worried a bit because it looked like it might have damaged the power lines - for once the company left enough slack that they were pinned to the side of the garage without breaking.
Later I was at work. It was a mostly normal day - though there were job interviews. There was one particularly odd woman - very cheerful and obsessed with kittens. There was also a woman who spoke in ebonics (which makes my head hurt - I could only hope she didn't get hired. It pains me when people try so hard to make themselves sound ignorant when they most certainly are not). At one point a Mexican guy came in - got $26 worth of stuff and paid with $21 in bills and the rest in VERY old and foreign coins from a number of different countries. Lots of old pennies and quarters (we're talking pre-1950) which put me in an uncomfortable position. I have a customer that collects old quarters, a family member collecting old pennies and I snag all the foreign money. There was something for everyone but they were all so rare and this guy spoke NO english - the only possible way he could have gotten all those coins and had them at one time was if he stole someones' collection. I was excited and furious but I don't speak enough Spanish to confront him - not that I had any right to make accusations based solely on such circumstancial evidence.... and he was still over a dollar short. I just wanted the bastard out of my store but didn't have the money to cover what he was missing.... but wanted to keep these coins and at least put a little effort in to finding the person he stole them from... not that I could even READ the non-American ID to tell them who it was that stole them.... I woke before the situation was resolved.
Additional Comments:
The coin thing still bothers me a lot. Not because of how uncomfortable the situation was but because it is TOTALLY possible that it might happen in real life. When gas and ciggs get expensive, people start spending their own coin collections as well as those stolen (often from family) just for a pack of smokes. Of course, our store is across from a pawn shop so the really good stuff goes over there and THEY have to deal with that particular stress far more than we do. Still... I hate it when I can't do anything more than accept the darker side of humanity.
I wish I had the skill and the guts to go vigilante.

Dreams have been fading fast lately.
Last night sleep was light and dreams were odd.
Something about ghosts... and rats. The rats weren't important - someone had one as a pet and it escaped. What made it difficult was that it ran at me and that pushed me close enough to awake that I felt it scurry past my shoulder and go under the blankets. I woke up far enough to realize that I had been dreaming but I could feel one of the springs vibrating as the rat tore a hole in the sheets and mattress to hide better. By then I was sitting up, kinda freaked out. My husband woke up and asked if I was okay and I wanted to tell him that there might be a rat in the bed but I was pretty sure it was a dream but I could feel movement even then but it didn't make sense - where would a rat have come from? I made some excuse and forced myself to lay back down and accept that it really WAS a dream.
After that there was something about a large house or apartment complex (not sure which) and something locked away. Looked a bit like a video game. If certain unknown phrases were spoken near certain parts of the house demons would pop out. They were annoying but generally didn't kill anyone (hurt a little, maybe) - it's just th at getting them back in was a real pain.
Additional Comments:
Feels like I didn't sleep at all.
My husband says I do stuff like that often - half waking and jabbering about oddities. Normally I'm not aware when awake like that. This was the first time I was to any extent and I couldn't pull together a coherant sentence. A bit like being half lucid in dreams - just awake. Odd to approach from the other side....
