The Deadly Game

Date of dream: Monday, August 20, 2007

I was walking through the small, main street of the town I used to live in. However, the street had not been subjected to the inevitable changes of time and had remained exactly how I remember it from over ten years ago. As I walked down the street, I realised how quiet it was and how it was beginning to fall into decadence. I was struck by an overwhelming feeling of desolation.

I stopped by a hairdressing salon (I think I was working there) and the manager was sitting at till and counting the takings for the day. She was the only person in there and the place was rather run down. The manager stood up with the money in a small, transparent plastic bank bag and said the takings for the day was £890. I remember thinking that was rather good.

So she walks out the salon and up the street, leaving the place unattended. I walked out after her and started to follow her.

Everything changes and I'm standing in the front garden of my old house, except it now looks like a post-war slum. A bald haggard stumbles towards me; he is covered in cuts and wearing dirty, ripped clothes (he looks a bit like Freddy Krueger). It's too late when I realise that he's a zombie. I somehow manage to get rescued and I'm standing in a large wooden shack.

An unidentifiable man (never seen him before) explains to me that the street is infested with zombies but we can make a game of it. Everything changes again and I become the unidentifiable man; I'm jumping really high through the street to get away from the Freddy Krueger zombie. At first, I'm soaring over fences and it's just a great feeling because Freddy Zombie can't keep up; a couple of times, I lose focus and can't jump as high so he catches up. I look down and I can myself (as I am in real life) standing outside the shack with Newman from Seinfeld and Régine from the band Arcade Fire. I'm distracted by the observers and I do another weak jump but Freddy Zombie does one that covers so much ground that he's about a hand's length away. I realise that I'm in trouble and I muster all my strength to do another high jump.

I'm back in the shack and I'm myself again. It's only Newman and I. He gives me a small plastic card (it looks like a credit card) and says that if I press the button when outside, I will be warped back into the shack but I only be safe until dawn because the power will wear off and the zombies can come in. So I go outside to try and play this dangerous zombie game. There aren't any zombies around but I can see Régine and she is wearing a pink dress and a black backpack. I'm really terrified and I run over to her. I get out my warp card as we become surrounded by zombies but no matter how much I press it, it doesn't work until they get closer and closer.

We get warped back into a cell in the wooden shack and Régine seems half-happy that she's safe but half-angry as if I was exaggerating the danger. She tells me that it's an hour to dawn as a zombie comes into the shack and we're safe. The zombie is actually Kramer from Seinfeld and he calls my name and tells me that we would be better to run because when it's dawn he won't be able to hold himself back. He starts smashing his arms through the wooden walls of the cell and grabs onto me. I realise that I need to run so I push open the door and dodge him. I go through a door and I'm in one of the narrow hallways from the mansion in the first Resident Evil game. I look behind me and Régine isn't there.

Additional Comments:

I listen to a lot of Arcade Fire and watch a lot of Seinfeld at the moment. It was a really vivid dream and it's the first time I've completely remembered a dream in a year :\

The Car Crash

Date of dream: Sunday, August 06, 2006

Level of Lucidity: N/A     Level of Cohesiveness:

This dream has been viewed 350 times.

It was during the night, and my dad was driving me along the highway near our old house. On the other side of the road, some guys were riding a motorcycle and as they passed us, they leaned in towards the driver's side of the car and flashed a really bright light, causing my dad to swerve the car.

While he was yelling at them for their stupidity, he lost control of the car and we crashed through the barrier. The car fell down from a great height and I couldn't stop screaming. I was also so angered that my dad would do something as careless as that.

When the car hit the ground, we landed in a wooded area in the industrial estate below the highway. When I looked at the seat next to mine, my dad had vanished. I was terrified and it was so dark but I got out the car. I also knew that I was bleeding around my face but wasn't injured otherwise. The walk from the industrial estate to my house was quite short so I decided to set out but I soon stopped. I heard the high-pitched laughing of children near by and a man was approaching behind me but then a lady walking a dog appeared.

I asked if she could walk me home and she agreed. The darkness then changed and it was broad daylight. We were walking across a fantasy-medieval style bridge across a lake. On the other side was a castle nestled against the vibrant green hills and old English cobblestone built houses.

Additional Comments:

I don't remember what happened after I crossed the bridge. Other than that, it was a really weird, vivid dream and when I woke up, I actually thought I had been in a car crash.

    The Last Eclipse

Date of dream: Tuesday, July 04, 2006

Level of Lucidity:     Level of Cohesiveness:

I was sitting in a beaten up, old car with a friend at the top of a hill that overlooked the sea. It was very dark--but it was not night. There were large houses on either side of the hill but they were shrouded in darkness and seemed rather unwelcoming. In between the houses was a perfect view of the sun and the dark was caused by the moon eclipsing the sun. It was a perfect eclipse but it still managed to frighten me.

Someone had set up incredibly huge mirrors in space to see the effect it had on the Earth and my friend and I could see it mirrored on the sky. The Earth was so big in the sky, as if it was actually another planet; I was actually frightened for a moment because I thought I wasn't on Earth, seeing as the view was so perfect.

My friend and I got out the car then he shrieked while pointing to the sky and the Earth image seemed to be falling incredibly fast. A voice then said, "After the billionth eclipse, we have now discovered that the Earth falls each time." but I knew that space was vast and even if it did fall, it wouldn't matter.

There was then a terrible upheaval as the Earth fell, like a marble, on top of four other planets that had experienced the same fate. The planet had landed on Jupiter.

Everything then changed and I was running through (what looked like) the Sunken Gelnika from Final Fantasy VII with a crowd of people in a panic. There was a lot of water on the floor and clearly the ship was leaking. As we gathered in one of the rooms, some of my friends from school were there and they were arguing about which possessions they should take when we flee.

    Additional Comments:

Typical end of the world dream. I have no idea where everyone was going to flee to in the end, though. Maybe it was one of the other planets. It was one of those weird dreams that caused me to wake up with a really bad headache.
