Donald's "problem"

I'm pretty sure that there's background to this dream that I've forgotten but in it, I had been out on a few dates on Donald but I don't think I'd actually been promoted to being his girlfriend. He had been, if I remember rightly, a bit strange about the prospect of getting into a relationship with someone because there was something weird about him.

In the dream, Donald was revealing what was weird about him. This was with the help of people I assume were his parents and it was to... the media. I can't remember if they were Japanese or Westerners. I was wearing the shirt that The Boy's mother gave me and I had my hair loose. There was an abacus on the floor with bright red and yellow beads on it.

I stood with baited breath, wanting to hear whatever it was that was wrong with him, my head lowered so I couldn't really see the cameras. He stood behind me with his hands gripping my shoulders and I realised that everyone would think I was his girlfriend. Really, I was far more conscious of his grip on my shoulders than whatever it was he was going to announce.

I expected something dreadful but in the end, his parents (or whoever) said that he had some sort of obsessive compulsive thing. He could become fixated on things like lids on jars and spend the whole day playing with it.

This didn't seem such a big deal to me at all. I crouched down, still more concerned about being seen as his girlfriend when we hadn't actually decided that, and I saw him leave without saying goodbye to me. This troubled me somewhat but I figured he needed some time to gather his thoughts.

Later, I was sitting on a beanbag in a place that must have been a library or something like that. I was reading a magazine and wearing the same clothes as I had been though I'm pretty sure it was couple of days later. This time, instead of being me, I was watching me.

Donald came up, rather awkward about the whole thing. We discussed what he had announced and I told him it didn't really bother me, it just sounded like... I don't remember what I actually said or the logic behind it but it was something I'd supposedly been reading for university.

Donald was pleased about this and sat down beside me on the beanbag. He leaned in to kiss me; I can't remember if he actually did or nto before I woke up.

Additional Comments:

I'm really quite happily involved with someone else and Donald is just a friend/former co-worker. Not a bad dream but somewhat peturbing.

House points and my grandmother

I was at my grandparents' house and there was some sort of competition going to take place between the school houses. I was one of the captains of the yellow team though I didn't really know what was going on or how to play any of the games that were taking place.

I went inside the house and found my grandmother sitting there. I knew instinctively that yellow was a slightly snobby team and that she thoroughly approved of me being captain. I was planning on wearing jeans and a t-shirt for the competition but she had me change into a pair of khaki shorts instead and I chose to wear a black t-shirt instead. On impulse, I drew my hair into a ponytail with my yellow sunflower hair tie.

She called the other house captain of the yellow team, a boy named Peter, from behind the couch. He hadn't been hiding; I just hadn't noticed him there. She bade him wear shorts as well and while he was getting changed, she sat me down and leaned in close. I remember the light suddenly becoming slightly orange hued as she told me that I had to win this competition, that I couldn't lose. I didn't even know what the sport was that I was going to play but I agreed to humour her.

Outside, I spoke to Peter and he told me that he didn't know what the games were either. Baffled, I went and joined the yellow team which was made up of young adults, most slightly older than me. They were near my grandfather's shed and there were three hoops on the ground. Each of them had three of the team members crouched behind them. I explained I didn't know what the game was and they started telling me about it but I still didn't get it. However, I concluded that it seemed easy enough and not such a big deal after all.

Suddenly, members of one of the other teams came running past. One of them was Matt and I somehow knew that in this dream, he was my boyfriend. We leaned against one another, pressing our cheeks together. I told him that my team didn't seem to be doing much and he told me that it was actually going to get a lot harder. Suddenly, he ran off again and my team attempted to explain how it was going to get harder. I gathered that there was some running involved and don't remember what happened next.

Additional Comments:

What the hell? Another different boyfriend?

I'm noticing that yellow seems to be a recurring theme in these dreams.

The diving competition

Again, this one was a bit blurry. I was at a swimming pool with The Boy and we were there for a diving competition. I was just watching but he was actually going to compete, though he wasn't that fussed about this. He wasn't saying much and was fixated on playing with what I think was a Gameboy. In the background somewhere was the playground for preps from my primary school.

I started watching the other divers who were competing first. They reminded me of the Chinese divers at the Olympics; they were very good. I noticed that some had this odd technique of starting midway through the dive; ie. they would have been in mid-air but instead used this strange slide-like thing that ran beneath the diving board. The coaches helped hold them in place until they began their dive.
