I was Harry Potter. O_o I was at school--I guess it was supposed to be Hogwarts, but it looked like a regular modern high school or college or whatever--and I was in the company of at least two other people, one of whom was definitely Hermione Granger, the other who was likely Ron Weasley. (Sorry if I get any names wrong throughout this dream--I'm not a Harry Potter fan!) We knew that something was up in a sort of "hidden library" within the school, so we were going to sneak in there and see what was what.

We had to go up a lot of steps in this stairwell. The walls were white and the steps were golden-colored wood. They went around and around at right angles, up and up. They were kind of cramped because they were narrow and there were lots of other students traversing them, like crowds of students. It must have been between classes. Someone (probably Hermione) told us there was a sort of "hidden passage" which led to this library. This consisted of a sort of hidden stairway on our way up which most people didn't know existed. I think I had knowledge of another hidden passage, or else this one, but I'd forgotten about it completely. As we were going up, up, up, we kind of went left (it was just one stairway but it seemed to branch off in places, really weird) and there was a hidden door or part of wall or something that, when you lifted or opened it, revealed another stairway just like the ones we were using only narrower, like for only one person at a time. "I never saw this way before!" I (Harry) exclaimed, and we slipped into it. I forgot to mention that throughout this part of ascending the stairs, we often had to pull ourselves over bannisters to take shortcuts instead of walking up all the steps, and this was kind of strenuous and a bit risky. Like we'd pull ourselves over an overhead bannister instead of taking all the steps up to that upper section. (This was vaguely reminiscent of "On So Many Levels" and, more recently, "The Sins Of Campia.")

We finally reached the library, and though I think it was supposed to be kind of secret, there were other people here; maybe it was a library for evil-minded wizards to hang out in? Nobody really paid us any attention and we went in as casually as could be. It was similar to the college library, high ceilinged, kind of musty and dim, dark carpeting and such. White light came in the windows but no lights were on. The kind of place where you'd expect to see dust motes floating around. We went into one aisle and probably started looking at the books. We were discussing something ominous that had happened at the school, like some wizards had disappeared or something, or parts of their bodies were missing; confusing. As we quietly talked in this aisle we picked up something from a shelf; it was a box or a piece of cloth wrapped around something. (The way we'd come in was somewhat to my right, and the aisle opened out to a center aisle to my left; Hermione and Ron (?) were to my left as well.) As the others talked, I unwrapped whatever was here, rather expecting what was found within, though I kept trying to act surprised. It was a severed human ear...but it was quite small, and obviously fake, like rubber. It was kind of shiny and had a bit of red paint or blood on the severed part. I held it up and it verified whatever was happening with these other wizards, whatever that was! This ear being found in the library was bad news and we knew we had to get out of there and report it to somebody, probably that lady professor, I forget her name; she wasn't in this dream anyway. Neither was Dumbledore, or Snape, or Draco, or that giant guy, whose name I also forget, FYI. (Hagrid? Still can't remember that lady's name. McGonagal or something. Ugh!)

Anyway...Hermione and Ron left the library. I remained behind a bit as I guess I had to pick up some of my stuff (recurring motif, if this was in fact what I was doing, packing school supplies in a hurry). As I did this, kneeling on the floor, I spied a girl standing at the end of the aisle, to my left and ahead of me, watching me intently. She was young (my age in the dream, I guess, as we were students) and pretty, with dark, straight, shoulder-length hair, slender build, dark shirt/sweater and skirt (probably the Hogwarts uniform), and a mildly ethnic look. For a moment I wondered if she was supposed to be this one Harry Potter character who had a kind of Asian name, she was his girlfriend or he had a crush on her or something...I haven't read the books so I wouldn't know how it goes. Then I thought no, maybe she's an original or new character. I knew she was bad news but pretended not to notice her; this was like a roleplay in which I had only minimal control and knew some of the things that were going to happen, so I was never too surprised throughout this dream. She had this odd look on her face, like kind of amused, but I ignored her. As I finished gathering my stuff she came toward me; and when I lifted my head she was right there, and I jumped and yelled like she'd surprised me, nearly falling over (maybe I did) and spilling my stuff again. She smiled and acted friendly, and I guess she asked if she could accompany me out of the library. Pretending to be a bit flustered, I agreed.

We returned to the twisty-turny stairwell and started going down this time, though at the pivotal point it's like we were going UP again. Around and around, pulling ourselves over bannisters, etc. At the point I just mentioned, we reached this area that hadn't been there before, where there was like an opening in the ceiling (which was low now), and we had to go UP through that and continue. The girl went through first. I now seemed to be carrying nothing but...my current paper journal, "Paper Flowers," which is a big spiralbound hardcover, light blue with flowers on it. I couldn't climb up through this little opening (it reminded me of a mail slot!) while holding this thing, so I shoved it up through the opening, then put my hands up there and began to pull myself up. And as I was doing so, the dark-haired girl stooped down, grabbed up my journal, and went running off with it!

I knew she'd been planning on doing that. >_<

For some reason this was pivotal to the plot, and proved her evil intentions. I guess there was something of importance in my personal journal! Maybe spells or secrets of mine or something? I pulled myself up through the opening, then we were going DOWN the stairs again, I think. She was far ahead of me and I wasn't trying to catch up very much. :/ I started pulling myself over bannisters, trying to find the best shortcut as there were so many people still crowding the place, but after a few efforts I stopped and just watched helplessly. It's now like there was a big offwhite-walled room or something ahead of me and there was this HUGE crowd of people milling about, and I spotted her on the far side of it. She was looking back at me, my journal in her hand. She seemed to be seeing if I was catching up, though she still looked oddly amused. I think she might have been having fun at my expense, as if to say, "Well, aren't you going to try to catch me?" She even pulled out some big clunky binoculars and looked at me through them, probably making sure it was me. I just stared back. Then she turned and was gone, exiting the building through a doorway to the left. I knew I'd never catch up, so I didn't even try. I just resignedly made my way through the crowd to try to find Ron and Hermione.

I now entered a locker hallway which seemed to be in the area of the doorway the girl had escaped through. More students were here, at their lockers and chattering. Hermione was here, and maybe Ron, and Neville, I think--it was a wimpy mousy little guy who was friendly toward us. Perhaps I was trying to tell them about the stolen journal, but not with much luck, but then I was no longer Harry Potter, because I knew that Harry Potter himself had disappeared, and I was now trying to impart this news to Hermione and the others. We were all trying to figure out where to look for him and what to do. This was very bad news.

We wondered what Hermione was going to do because she seemed the most helpful in our group. She was pulling out a bookbag and slinging it over her shoulder. She gave us a serious look. "I'm leaving for the weekend," she said, "but as soon as I get back, if Harry's still missing, then I'm never leaving here."

What she meant by that was, if Harry was still missing when she returned to "Hogwarts," she wasn't going to leave the school grounds until we'd found him. I found her comments kind of amusing though, because Harry was already missing, right now, and she was still planning on leaving for the weekend--like, "Hey, put Harry on hold for a couple of days!" "Whatever!" I thought. I felt kind of worried and exasperated that she would do such a thing, but she turned to leave and I guess she was pretty set on it. *sigh* Oh well. (I recall, also, very clearly making eye contact with Hermione in this part, really looking at her face. I don't make eye contact much in real life, and even in dreams, people's features are vague to me--but I CLEARLY saw it was the actress who plays Hermione. She had those big dark intense eyes.) While we were here, too, Neville (?) was cheerfully giving us some kind of info on something, trying to be helpful. I'm not sure if Hermione accompanied us but we went outside then, and we were in this kind of wooded area with sandpits or sandy areas and maybe wooden planking or ramps and maybe a bridge or overpass or something because I seem to recall walking under something. But it wasn't in a city. It was in the middle of the woods. There were still lots of students present.

We went walking along and passed a group of three people on the right; there were two girls--a teenager almost our age and a little girl--and a younger boy, all redheads. I believe the older girl was Ginny (?) Weasley, and the other two were also Ron's siblings. I glanced at them curiously. The boy was kind of cute but I can't pin down his age; he seemed older at first, but then like a little kid. At first it seemed that the two girls had short stumpy legs, which confused me. Then Ginny looked normal (she was about our height, and had long straight red hair), but the younger girl was short and squat almost like a dwarf. I think I felt a bit sorry for her and wondered why she was so disproportionate, but they all seemed cheerful. I thought, "That older one must be Ginny and the other two are also Ron's siblings, of course," because they all had red hair and Ron has a lot of siblings (though I don't know if he has another younger sister and brother). They just stood off to the right as we walked, smiling at us but not really getting involved; I wondered if they would help us. We might have talked with them a bit. Then we got near this overpass or bridge-type thing and there was lots of sand we were walking through.

Two more characters appeared now, and I know at least one was supposed to be somebody important in the later books of the series, but I don't know if he really has any equivalent. He was this really cute student, our age, whom the girls were supposed to just swoon over. He had rakish good looks and dark blond or light brown hair, looked like a younger, clean-shaven version of that one bad boy on Lost. (Sawyer! That's it.) Only cuter. It was mainly his hair that made me think of Sawyer. He was one of the student wizards too. He had a friend who accompanied him and had a weird title, like a "donka donk" or something (perhaps influenced by that country song, "Honky Tonk Kadonka-Donk" or something, it's really stupid and I don't feel like looking it up, phhbbtt). This follower of his dressed oddly though I can't quite place it...maybe he had fingerless gloves, a trench coat, and wore a cap...he was cute in his own funny way, and kind of weird. He just followed the cute guy around all the time and I knew he had a purpose but I didn't know what it was at first. They went walking by and the cute one was all smiles, all charm; I think he was supposed to be a suspicious character but I knew he wasn't really bad, he just hadn't proven that he could be trusted yet. They passed us by once, then I went walking through or over this sandy patch toward the overpass/bridge and they passed again. The goofy "donka donk" guy or whatever was having trouble scrambling over the sand and keeping up with the cute guy. As he passed, I noticed he was making all sorts of weird noises, like "Dum-da-da-da-DUM-DA-DA!!"--in short, he was making music, just speaking it out loud in this really silly dramatic fashion. It didn't sound like real music, it was just what a guy would sound like PRETENDING to make music. It was really fast like action music and I suddenly realized that's what this guy's role was--he always followed the cute guy and PROVIDED A SOUNDTRACK for him!! ^_^ I found this immensely funny and even said, as he passed, "Let me guess--he's the soundtrack guy?" The goofy guy paid me no attention, just kept on following the cute guy, making this goofy action music as he went. It was his duty to provide a live soundtrack for the cute wizard's life. That's what a donka donk or whatever did. *LMAO*

I guess we were all gathering out here now to figure out what to do about the missing Harry Potter. Perhaps the cute guy and his donka donk or whatever would help us. That's all I remember.

Impaled By My Own Birthday Present

This one is kind of vague by now.

Ma came to me and asked, "Is today your birthday?" I had to think a minute before realizing that, yes, it was indeed October 8th.

"Yes, it is," I said; then, "Huh. I completely forgot!"

Ma gave me a package and we went into the living room so I could open it. Dad was home too, sitting on the couch watching TV. It seemed to be evening as the lights were on but it was still somewhat light outside. I sat down on the couch and started tearing carefully at the paper as we talked about something. The gifts...were kind of odd, and disappointing, but I figured, well, it's the thought that counts. :/ One was a picture frame...what on Earth would I do with a picture frame? (Ma's gifts are sometimes kind of more with her in mind than me.) It was a pretty blue and maybe speckled with a lighter color. There were at least two other smaller objects wrapped in there with it but I don't remember what they were and none of them were anything I was particularly dying to have; I was actually kind of puzzled as to why she had gotten me such things, but I was polite about it anyway. At least she'd remembered!

One of the other items now seemed to be some kind of narrow gold pin (like the kind you wear). I started trying to pull it out of the package (none of this stuff was in a box, it seemed to be wrapped in a lump as it was) but it was stuck, and it suddenly came loose and went flying! We looked around a bit, puzzled, but had no clue where it went. I then noticed it protruding from my left sleeve. I was wearing something I don't wear in real life, and it seemed to be two layers, like a hoodie or jacket over a shirt, and I think the hoodie or jacket was khaki. There was a part in the sleeve somehow and the end of the pin was sticking out. "Oh, here it is, right on my arm!" I exclaimed, and began pulling on it again...but again it was stuck! I pulled really hard, too. What could it possibly be stuck on??

I lifted my sleeve a bit and saw the truth. The pin had STUCK ITSELF IN MY ARM. O_O; One end, the one I was pulling on, was sticking out of my skin, and the other end was sticking out too, with maybe an inch's width of skin between them, like I had been pierced in the arm! OUCH! But strangely, it didn't even hurt. I was more surprised than anything as Ma came over to see to it. Still, I was leery of hurting myself and so stopped tugging on it as I had been doing. I think Ma took hold of it and she at last yanked it out, or maybe I did, because I remember thinking, "Well, the best way to do this is to just YANK it out as fast as I can!" I think I braced myself for the pain but it didn't hurt an awful lot when we did this.

"You know, it doesn't even hurt!" I said to Ma and Dad as we resumed talking, but throughout the dream, my arm began to throb and ache, and I pressed my hand to it (it was my left upper arm, kind of toward the inside, in the soft muscle), wincing a bit. Ouch. Delayed pain response I guess! It was almost like something pressing on or squeezing my arm and it did hurt a lot; but I bore it pretty well. No biggie. (I also didn't seem to be bleeding.) Maybe we were talking about what had just happened because we found it kind of amusing, to be impaled with my own gift.

Somewhat later in the dream something suddenly struck me and I thought, "Hold on--it's October??" I looked outside and I guess that yes, the trees were colored or bare and it looked autumny. It really was my birthday. I grew REALLY confused and exclaimed, "But what happened to JULY and AUGUST?!" (I forgot September.) I couldn't believe I had missed the ENTIRE summer, and this really upset me!

KITTY COME BACK!

This seemed to be part of a bigger dream. I didn't take notes so I don't recall it well. Basically it was daytime and I was outside with some other people, maybe, and my cat Cosmas was with me. He might have morphed kind of into our old cat Pepper, but I think mostly he was Coz. It didn't seem to be summer as the trees seemed bare and I think it was colder. There were a bunch of people loitering around right at the edge of our property line near the south woods but still on our property, but this didn't bother me. I knew they owned the woods and the house next to ours out there. One was the man who owns the house next door though I don't know what he looks like. They were all talking.

I was doing something, then turned around to go back inside with Cosmas. But I noticed him running WAY off into the woods! (The woods were more open than in real life, similar to those in "Big Two-Rivered Woods.") Dismayed, I went running after him--but since the owner of the woods was right there, I didn't want to go trespassing. Coz was getting further and further away. I yelled at him to come back but of course he didn't listen. Frustrated, I went over to the guy who was talking with some other people and fought to get his attention, since he was distracted. "My cat's gone running off into your woods," I said, pointing; he looked. "Would you mind if I went in your woods to go get him?"

He seemed puzzled, but shook his head; he didn't mind. *whew* I started off after my cat, calling his name, but I think I took merely a step or two into the woods before seeing him turning and coming back, still racing. "Oh," I called to the guy, a bit meekly, "never mind, he's coming back." I felt I had to apologize for asking to trespass and then not doing so. :/

Coz came zooming back onto our property, and I noticed there was another cat right on his tail. I think it was mostly black with some white and its fur was somewhat longer. The cats also seemed smaller. I think it was female. I started yelling almost frantically at Coz; I'm not sure what I was yelling, but I didn't want him near this cat. Maybe I was telling him to get on the porch, because he was ALREADY running away from it, but I seemed to be acting like he was trying to go NEAR it. Confusing. I was afraid that this other cat might start to fight him and would hurt him. But I think at last the other cat caught up, and it was just curious, albeit somewhat spastic. I was still kind of on edge.

This might have been influenced by two things from real life. One, I've spotted a nice spot in the woods where I would love to sit and read sometime, but it's on the neighbor's property, and what's more, it's right on the border of his yard. I feel he probably wouldn't mind but I know how I hate trespassers. :( Two, recently I've seen at least three stray or outdoors cats wandering around on our property (on different occasions); Coz was outside with me when one of them was not too far away, and I was trying to shoo him away from me in case he saw the cat or it tried to attack him, but he didn't even notice it watching us! And each cat went running off when I attempted getting closer to them. One was a black cat (the one which was watching us), one was a gray tabby, and the latest was a beautiful white longhair which definitely looked well cared for. (Coz didn't see the last one.)
