Travel preparations

Date of dream: Saturday, February 19, 2005

Level of Lucidity:     Level of Cohesiveness:

This dream has been viewed 152 times.

Last night's dream(s) were all about wanting to go traveling. First there was something at the train station here in Basel (although it looked slightly different), with my brother. We wanted to go somewhere, but first there was stuff with the trams not stopping where they normally do (a bit as they did during Fasnacht), and then we were on the track, waiting for the train. Or maybe it was the other way around, I'm not sure anymore.

We had reservations, and I sent my brother Michi off to buy some provisions at the supermarket. He walked far too slowly, even stopped to compare his watch with the train clock, so I yelled at him that we didn't have that much time left. The train employee (a woman) on the track had told me that we only had enough time because we had reservations. Those were right in the front of the train, since Basel in my dream was obviously a dead end station. The train looked different, too - I think it looked a bit like a ride on a fun fair.

I don't know if the dream ended there or if we actually traveled, but the other part I remember is me planning a trip to Russia - or rather, it was some imaginary place, but I called it Russia. And I had a book with photos and information about different regions, with which I was trying to decide where to stop. For some reason my father was there, giving me advice because he had apparently been in that region once.

In my book, at the border between two regions, which were both not very well-suited for travellers relying on public transport, there were some huge photos of a Nessie-like monster in a lake. Only the photos were much more detailed, so I got curious. My father told me that the lake was pretty and worth stopping at - and that seeing the 'monster' was a cool experience. I read in my book that this was really real, some kind of giant lizard that lived in and at the lake and raised its young. I really wanted to see that!

I think that was when I woke up.

Additional Comments:

Probably at least partly inspired by my planned trip to Glasgow with Regina next week and by the problems I'm having with planning my Japan trip this fall. Also, for some reason half of my dream was in English, I think.
