Hovering Fish

I got a call from my sister to come visit her at work, so off I went to visit her. Oddly enough, she was working for a news station which was fairly close to where you live. That rested on my mind as I headed towards my sister, thinking I could stop by and see you before I had to head home. The trip there was instant, and I found myself not inside a T.V news station, but a hospital room. As strange as that was, the dream was about to get even more strange. I questioned the location of this news station, and some guy, who was laying on one of the hospital beds, pointed out the reasoning behind it. It made sense then, it doesn't now. He said "If you listen carefully to the beginning of the broadcast, it explains everything." It was then I remembered that during the opening of the broadcast the theme included a saying about being in the "Heart" of the city. Shrugging that off I turned back to my sister who was now tending to a pair of parakeets who were perched on a table. Brilliant blue, the both of them, and they were pecking away at some seed Denise had scattered about. I asked her if they were tame, she said they were, she even went on to say they were the most docile birds she had ever laid eyes on. On cue, I reached out to touch one of them, and the male promptly turned around to bite my finger. As if this wasn't enough, he climbed up onto my hand and went about piercing every inch of my skin he could get his grubby little beak on. By this point in time I was nearly screaming, not high pitched screaming mind you, but yelling out every curse word known to man. This proved only to upset a few nurses who were about, and they came running to see what was going on. We finally managed to get the bird off my hand and back on to the table but as I took a turn to move away from it, both the male and the female took to flight, landing one on my shoulder, the other on my head. I had caught movement out of the corner of my eye, something had fallen to the floor, so, while being attacked by the pair of birds I went to see what had fallen. Much to my surprise, I had found a baby bird on the floor. No wonder they were attacking me. I put the bird up on the table and both parents took off to tend to their child. From around a box of seed came another small bird, obviously a sibling, but older then the one I had picked up. One big happy family once again, and thus it was time to move on.Movement again, but this time from something else on the table, or more so hovering just above that something that was on the table. It was a fish who had decided the housecleaning my sister had been doing wasn't up to par, thus he also decided to take it upon himself to find a new location in which to reside. It was a beta, dark blue with red fins, and it was floating in the air just above the tiny cup my sister had given it as a home. The cup was filled with dirty water. Bits of food and what not were floating within. I can't say as I blame the fish for wanting to find a new location, but how it was able to hover in the air was beyond me.
Once again I reached out to touch the animal, this time when I did, it fell to the floor. In my rush to pick it up off the floor, I knocked over the glass that it once lived in, thus spilling the contents everywhere. Denise immediately began yelling at me for trying to kill her fish. I calmly told her what had happened, but she didn't believe me. Who ever heard of fish that could float on air anyway? It was something else to shrug off as I went to find him a new home. Once more I turned from the table only to spot a fish tank, and to it I went. The process of getting there seemed to take a while, but I managed to make it.
I inspected the tank to see if it was suitable for the fish. Satisfied with what I found, I placed him inside. All of a sudden, the tank burst with life. A few small schools of fish were swimming around, checking out the new comer who had headed straight for the bottom of the tank to hide himself beneath the gravel. As the other fish in the tank were tetras, I figured the beta would be just fine. As I pulled myself away from the tank, I found myself in a different room altogether. The first tank was still there with the beta, but it was now surrounded by a few dozen other fish tanks. Each tank had different kinds of fish within, one even had the oddest assortment of water bugs. While checking out the tank with water bugs, I heard a voice which I haven't heard in a few years.
My ex brother-in-law was standing in the doorway. It seems he was asked to come and talk to Denise as well. Gary and I got to talking about the odd water bugs Denise had in her collection. Gary was rambling on about how many varieties there were in the world while I couldn't seem to pull my eyes from the tank. There was a big blue one, which looked exactly like a lady bug, though obviously a mutant lady bug as the creature was about the diameter of a quarter. There was an assortment of regular water bugs, though they weren't skimming the top of the water, but swimming beneath the surface, and a variety of other bugs I don't really care to remember.
There were dozens of bugs in the tank, but the ones that drew my attention were rather odd. They were fluorescent yellow/green and head of the bug was rounded, almost like an octopus. They did have tentacles, but the tentacles were fingers, complete with knuckles and fingernails. The creatures had an odd habit, (go figure) they would stack themselves one on top of the other like a totem pole. While watching the bugs stack themselves I heard another voice. I turned to look to see who had entered the room and was quite surprised to find Ellen Degeneress engaged in a conversation with my sister, as if they were old friends.
I spotted two more glasses with Beta's in them, both of which were hovering over water. I called out to my sister to come look, and she called back to me saying she knew all along that they could do that, and did do it every time she had forgotten to clean out their tanks.
I had had about enough, thus I turned to leave, but before I could go Denise stopped to talk to me. It was at this point I noticed my sister was topless, which is odd enough as it is, however! she was twisting her breasts into knots and wrapping them around her neck. Strange as that was, it only got worse as they weren't normal breasts, but these long tube like things hanging from her chest. Her nipples, while still graced with the gold rings she had pierced them with a few years ago, were not the normal color, but a kelly green.
I promptly told her I thought she was a freak of nature, and that she truly belonged in the nut house I had found myself in, and then I bolted out the door. I found myself on a city street, not one that was familiar either.
It was then I woke up to the sound of my son playing a video game. Happy to be out of the dream, but laying there wondering... WTF?
