so this dream was cut short.
in my dream, i was working at a restaurant. it was kind of a mix between Friendly's and a fast food restaurant (like Arby's, where I worked a long time ago), in that we served crappy food and didn't have a wait staff, but we also specialized in ice cream.
just before the dream began, i remembered i'd asked one of the girls i worked with on a date. but before she could respond we got a group of customers, so i had to go and deal with them. i had to make some food for them, putting fries down and so on, and i was hurrying so i could get back to the girl, but just as i was at a point where i only had to wait and let things cook more customers came in. so i dealt with them, and now the girl was busy too, and there was in general a bit of a rush for the store, which was dealt with.
just as things were calming down again my manager came by and went, "Eric, as soon as you get the chance i need to talk to you." and then i remember needing to do something immediately i'd forgotten, i believe it was to prepare some sort of apple or cherry pie dish. the girl, who had been hovering around the periphery, came up to me in the midst of it, and i thought she was going to tell me whether she'd made up her mind one way or the other, but instead she gave me an exasperated look and said, "someone's here to see you."
so i look over the counter and for some reason there's this pale, blonde-haired kid who i remember riding on the bus in elementary school with, standing there (he hadn't aged). and behind him i saw my parents were just starting to walk in the door, visiting me. and i had to make the pie, and i had to talk to my manager, and then on top of it all my phone rang!
aaand my phone was ringing next to my bed. so i woke up and answered it.
but it was a strange sort of dream, trying to make a spare moment to talk with this girl after all these interruptions were dealt with. it was funny, and i'm amused by it, but i still can't help but wonder how it would have ended. oh well.
